Hey out there,

here is the idea:
The main thing is, that I want to assign sounds to keyzones as fast as possible without touching the mouse.

I'm working with Brainspawn Forte, which is really powerful.

So let's say I have a piano-, e-piano-, organ- and two synthsounds. I want the epiano sound in the lower part, a piano sound in the upper part and a synth layer on the whole keyboard. Now I can use the mouse to create keyzones in forte quite easily. But it really affects the workflow especially when I'm rehearsing with my band.
My idea now is, to have a map on the iPad / Lemur (see attachement, just a sketch) for each sound. On this map there are buttons, which allow to assign the sound to the zone. If I get this working, live can't be easier
But I have no idea, how to realize that. I thought about assigning a keyzone to a midi channel.

For example:
- Receiving on midi ch.1: Lower part
- Receiving on midi ch.2: Upper part
- Receiving on midi ch.3: whole keyboard
...and so on.

But that means, that the masterkeyboard is able to split the keyboard and to send on different midi ch. in the different zones (maybe kurzweil can). And that means also, that I have to change the midi ch. in the keyboard too, which is again affecting the workflow.

I don't know, if its possible, but the "splitting" of the channels has to happen in the PC / forte and has to be controlled by midi too.

I hope, my idea is clear and maybe you have an idea, how to get this working!

Sorry but pictures really don't help at all - posting some part of the patch that you are having problems with is far better . . .

It will also depend on all sorts of things like how addressable/malleable Forte actually is - midi, sysex, osc communications etc
Does Forte allow midI messages to set parameters within the app - can it be setup to send similar info back to Lemur . . .
How your gear is setup may also be relevant as well - sounds like you have a keyboard in the mix - various connections are possible . .

Really need a bit more real info . . .

as far as I know, forte does not support OSC yet. I'm not sure about SYSEX. I didn't find anything in the manual.

Forte is able to give midi feedback. So, it is possible to control the lemur app with forte.

Well, I own a nord stage. But thats not really important, because I want this setup to work with every kind of keyboard, which has a midi out. So midi out keyboard into midi in forte.

It's also possible, to create a virtual midi input port. This is very useful, because the vst acts like an external instrument with an own midi out, which I can route to whatever I want.

In other words: if there is a vst, which does, what I want to do, I can easily add it to my library and create a VMI, to control all other vsts in my virtual rack.

It is a bit difficult to come up with a solution for software that I know little about and despite a quick look I could see no manual on there website(??)

It comes down to knowing the capabilities of the program - you say it 'gives midi feedback' - does it also receive midi control?
I would imagine maybe a few Range objects should be able to control the keyzones on different channels - but only if you can midi-map a CC to it . . .

Using the Lemur is not that different to using a hardware controller - have you asked on Brainspawns forum how this could be achieved?
Perhaps you are able to duplicate the single channel midi stream within Forte, assign it to a different MIDI channel and zone that . . .

It may be better to use the Extern section on the Nord to achieve what you want in the short term rather than trying to do a generic version . .
This extern section may also help provide the info for zoning, splitting, layering etc . . .

As I said at the start without the gear it is hard to come up with a solution sometimes
If you have a bit of an idea how it could be done and can post a semi-working project and more problem domain info, then it may be easier to help
Best idea is to find out from Brainspawn how you can do what you want to do and then make a project that does that . . .

I asked in the brainspawn forum but didn't get an useful answer.

What I found yesterday, is this plugin:

It seems, that nearly everything is possible with that. There I can split the keyboard in different zones on different channels.
It seems, that this is the solution. But I have to check that.
