relative mode for fader?

Post by benj3737 »

Hello,
Is there a way to set the fader object to relative mode?
For example, say I have a fader set to control something where tiny changes in value create large changes in sound.
In Touchosc I can set a fader to 'relative mode', which means that if the value of the fader is .25 and I put my finger down at .75, the fader value doesn't change, but then I can slide my finger up and down and it will mode the fader accordingly.
I'd love to be able to do this in Lemur too. I know how to set cursor mode to 'cap only', which kindof works, but then I have to be very careful to put my finger down at the right spot. Relative mode would make it much more intuitive and less risky too.
Is this possible?
Thanks!

There is kind of a workaround for this. Take a Range instead of a Fader, set the range to a very small amount and then set the drag-attribute to 1. Now you have relative modus with the drawback, that you don't have the full 0....1 range.

Hope this helps for now. But you're right, this option should be available.

If the visual aspect of a "fader" isnt that much important to you....a knob with "linear" mode and "relative" type behaves how you desire (drag up down to set, its relative) - it just doesnt "look" like a fader but it can certainly be bigger than a fader's "cap" and bypasses the problems of the range solution above with the x value not covering the whole range (because of the set drag-attribute).
