Connect Lemur to Mac with wired MIDI
How can I do this?
I have seen all these MIDI devices for iPad that allows MIDI controllers to control the iPad. I do not care about this feature.
I want to connect the iPad to my Mac directly, with a wired connection, and send MIDI from my iPad to my Mac, as if I plugged in any other MIDI controller. It can be easily achieved with Wifi, but this is too unstable for me. How much hardware do I need to make this connection?

High
You could get by with a Camera Connection Kit and two cheap usb interfaces I suppose . . .
Just off the top off my head, though there may be more elegant/expensive solutions . . .
Cheers

Re: Connect Lemur to Mac with wired MIDI
Hi Komodovaran,
You would need an adapter from the iPad to your computer. I case you wanna go cheap you could use the camera connection kit to connect which you would then need to plug into a MIDI to USB box (either be a soundcard or another device)
I personally recommend that you get the iConnect MIDI which has the best latency out of all the devices we have tested. You could also go for a cheaper Line6 MIDI Mobilizer 2.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
M.

Re: Connect Lemur to Mac with wired MIDI
So I checked up some products, and this looks like a really gimped solution, and would probably end up costing me around like 150 USD, from what I've checked.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
iPad -> Midi Mobilizer -> MIDI to USB box -> Computer
Why is it that iPad can send MIDI wirelessly to a Mac, but wiring requires 20 different devices and converters?

Re: Connect Lemur to Mac with wired MIDI
The tidiest and most reliable device that we've tested so far is the iConnect MIDI. In that case, the connection looks like this:
iPad -> iConnect MIDI -> Computer
Hope this helps. Best regards,

Hi
Sounds like the iConnect is the 'elegant' way to go - Will have to check it's stats, it's sounds pretty good . . .
The 'dirt cheap' (and potentially wiry) way to do it would be the Camera Connection Kit from Apple about $30 I think and 2 'el cheapo' $5 USB cable interfaces
Cheers

No - it wont have the right ends and for various other reason it wont work.
But you can use a cheap USB-Cable MIDI interface (USB Compliant - No Drivers Needed) plugged into the CCK.
This then sends your MIDI - in/out over standard 5pin DIN - Another on e fopr the computer and your done.
Cheers

Re: Connect Lemur to Mac with wired MIDI
Oh yeah
Two midi cables to join them . . .
Mind you some cheap MIDI I/O's are are bit 'cheap' and may not perform well- jitter latency etc . . .
I personally don't have any real issue with MIDI via WiFi and Daemon-ised . . .
Cheers
