Audiobus apps and length of time to set up?

Hello all,
First time posting here.
I'm very interested in purchasing Lemur to be able to use multiple Audiobus apps from one central controller but am worried I'll be spending most of my time designing instead of actually writing. Are there many Audiobus app templates already available or is it fairly easy to set up one for each configuration or should I be prepared for a lot of pain, or maybe not try at all as I'm a total noob to customizable controllers?
Thanks in advance!

Desigining a surface in Lemur is actually just a drag-drop kinda thing. You drop that fader, here or no, I want it there, drag it there, and then resize it and whatnot and then you just use menus to assign midi - OSC mappings to it. So its nothing big really if thats your concern.
The questions you see posted in the forums are most of the times related to "advanced" features like connecting objects together or make some sort of automated functionality via scripting - again, for simple operations it still is a simple code typing. But Im stressing the fact, you dont even have to go there if you just want simple touch surface controller with knobs, buttons, pads, faders, XYpads and whatnot!
edit to add: in my humble opinion, Id say go for it - the worst thing that can happen is you ending up designing all the time (indeed) once you figure out all the great possibilities ernhanced with scripting lol. Like, you 'll WANT to do that! lol

There is an Animoog template floating around. It's a neat idea in concept, and one I had thought about as well. I'm not fully aware though of how to connect the Lemur session to multiple apps via VirtualMIDI - I'm guessing setting different items to be on different channels (e.g. Fader for App1 on Ch. 1, Fader for App2 on Ch. 2) but is that the best way? Is there a better way to use Lemur to control multiple apps at once?

In Lemur you also have up to 8 midi - OSC targets so you can have the first target (target 0) set to send to app1, target1 to app 2 and so on and so on.....

I believe he's using Beatmaker as drum machine and Magellan for fx. Saveas also has one where he's using 3 apps but I can't find the youtube link. But in both cases, Audiobus is enabled. With so many apps coming out on a weekly basis, I was hoping to streamline my performance workflow by having a set template where perhaps, my rhythms/beats were on left side, fx/synths on right side, maybe some vj stuff at top, and guitar fx at bottom. This is all just in my head right now but seems very exciting.

HI,
I actually was using magellan as a synth on channel 1 & 2, and Beatmaker for the rest. (Other synths and drums)
I have used multiple apps like this, but it starts to bog down with too many at once. I'm using iPad 3, so if if you have a 4 you may get better performance.
When using multiple apps, I use midibrige, so that Lemur is output to midibridge. That way I can route to the different apps.
Lemur can be quite daunting at first, but simple controllers are not to bad. And with midi learn on magellan etc you can learn the faders for ADSR etc.

Stumbled across this today through palmsounds - a Loopy and Turnado template for Audiobus magic...

It seems that the coolest way to use an iPad would be to have a Lemur template controlling multiple apps. Imagine playing that live!

Ahh yes! Thats the video made by Saveas who posted this in Audiobus forums. @Klautninja, my apologies, I thought you also were using Audiobus as I also saw your vid on ab forums as well.
@freepuppies - I agree! I'd like to start using cool lemur templates to control diff apps.
