cable connection between Ipad and Pc
cable connection between Ipad and Pc
By what I have read it looks like Lemur is working well between Ipad and Pc via the camera kit.
Right ?
Has anyone tested the iconnect midi 1 ?
This should allow me to have a cable connection from Ipad to Pc and an additional midi in ( which should allow me to pipe an external midi to the Pc) and out.
Right ?
thanks a lot,
Luca

Re: cable connection between Ipad and Pc
I've tried with the Alesis i/o dock. It does'nt seem to be any different when the adhoc connection. But I could imagine the the iConnect would be more stable.
Re: cable connection between Ipad and Pc
the reason why I am checking for cable is because I don't want to deal with wifi adhoc connections between pc and Ipad.
So, my expectations are for something reliable and simple.

Hi
From my experience the iConnect stuff is pretty good. There new series look even better -
get the model that best suits your needs and get the next better model when you can afford it

Re: cable connection between Ipad and Pc
thank you MM,
at this point I think I will buy a Lemur app and test it with a camera kit first.
Then I will consider a step up.
thanks a lot,
Luca

Re: cable connection between Ipad and Pc
Hey Luca, do you already have a Camera Connection Kit and a MIDI interface to connect it to the outside world, like to your computer or other MIDI hardware?
If you don't already have either, or even one (but especially both!) - get the iConnect.
By the time you splash out for a half-decent MIDI inteface (that isn't an iConnect) alone to use with the CCK, and you do need one, the CCK alone isn't enough - you'll wish you'd just got the iConnect.
The new ones do look very nice.
But get the Lemur app anyway - it's absolutely worth testing out using WiFi.

Re: cable connection between Ipad and Pc
Hi Joe,
no I haven't the CCK and any midi tool for the Ipad.
I have everything I need for the Pc ( Rme audio cards) and was considering using the Ipad to replace my Novation midi controller ( and go further).
All the midi routing with the external midi devices is done via the Rme cards so there is no need to have another one.
About connecting the Ipad ( specifically for the Lemur) to the pc laptop I need to be as simple and light as possible so I was considering the easiest cable connection ( being the CCK or the Iconnect 1).
My experience in connecting the Ipad to the pc via adhoc wifi connection has been pretty poor, having to reconfigure it anytime I switch them on.
Do you think the CCK would be enough to make my laptop pc see Lemur as midi controller ?
thanks a lot,
Luca

Re: cable connection between Ipad and Pc
Which RME ya got?
Some of those work with the CCK right out of the box so you could be golden yet.
UCX?

Re: cable connection between Ipad and Pc
Hi Joe,
I have a Babyface and a UC.
But they need to be connected to the laptop and desktop which process audio.
The Ipad with the Lemur would be just for midi control.
So the Ipad need to send the Lemur midi commands to the laptop.
