got lemur ipad for 2 weeks still can't get anything out of it.
so here is what i'm doing if anyone could see what i'm diong wrnog:

i installed on my pc loopMIDI & lemur daemon
i donwloaded this template for cubase.
this 16channels template says :
MIDI 0 = Generic Remote - cubase lemur Control
MIDI 0 = Mackie Controller (LEFT)
MIDI 1 = Mackie controller (RIGHT)
i open lemur editor and sync the 16 channel template. i can see it on ipad.

lemur is set this way :
MIDI0 from loopMIDI port / to loopMIDI Port
MIDI1 from loopMIDI port1 / to loopMIDI port1

i open cubase and i see the loopMIDI ports.
i go to device and create 3 new remote devices :
Generic Remote
  • loopMIDI Port : MIDI Input
  • loopMIDI Port : MIDI Output
Mackie Control
  • loopMIDI Port : MIDI Input
  • loopMIDI Port : MIDI Output
Mackie Control 2
  • loopMIDI Port 1 : MIDI Input
  • loopMIDI Port 1 : MIDI Output
all is messed up. arm mute solo buttons do nothing.
play stop button is ok but not the rest of transport.
faders can control cubase but they don't return data to ipad when moved inside cubase.
well i can't list them all anyway it's not working.

last thing is if i activate a MIDI track it receive random data from ipad because i set my midi tracks to listen to all input ports.
with Vcontrol i have no problem leaving these midi tracks to listen to all ports.

pleae tell me what i'm doing wrong.

Hi sylvainmoreau,

I'll see what I can do to assist you, but first I recommend testing Lemur with a more simple 8 channel mackie setup to ensure basic ports are lined up OK. Some of the controls (arm, solo, mute) use Mackie control and others use the generic remote. Identify which ones are working and which are not and this would make it easier for me to pin point which part of the setup is causing the issue. From your description of the faders (which are also mackie control) it sounds like the problem is there. Also see if the EQ and quick controls are working since these are using the generic remote.

To stop the MIDI tracks from receiving note data go to the Device setup > MIDI Port Setup and deactivate "In All MIDI' for the appropriate ports.

I'm not at my Cubase or Lemur right now so I'll take another look at this later when I'm at my system.

hi searlstudio !

thx very much for your help removing the "In All MIDI" is the first good news it's working.
i installed the 8 channels template.
here is what's working or not :

solo : not working > light doesn't stay on it goes off instantly.
mute : not working > need to press 2 times to make it on the 2 times for off
arm : not working > blink on but then off.
all the above it's same problem if i select it with mouse or ipad on cubase :p (like if there was a "loop" that activate while deactivate the parameter)
fader : not working > lemur can control cubase but lemur doesn't know where fader is from cubase

play : working
rec : not working > rec activated then stopped while play runs
EQs : working (i control from lemur and using mouse is visible on lemur)
EDIT window : not working > blinks on then off
pan : working (only in the EQ / Sends / ins window in the 8ch interface i can't see the pans)

for the 4Bouncy XY i don't know how to assign them

well basically we can say ... nothing's working except eqs
hope that helps ?
cheers

It sounds like your in/out may not be established correctly. I don't use a PC and I'm unfamiliar with LoopMIDI. However I just looked at the PC setup video on Liine's site. It shows that you need to setup two ports: IN (A) and OUT (B) just for MIDI0 on the Lemur. This means four ports need to be setup in LoopMIDI to use MIDI0 and MIDI1. Possibly you can reestablish the ports in LoopMIDI and label them:

LoopMIDI 0 In
LoopMIDI 0 Out
LoopMIDI 1 In
LoopMIDI 1 Out

If you don't have these lined up right in Cubase you will surely get a mess.

hi ;)

well good news is your explanation made sense ! and i manage to get the "MackieforCubaseV1" working (easier then the template i was starting with) and then the "cubase 8channel lemur template" all is working from faders to eq to quick control. so this is good so far
Image

it is set this way :
lemur
MIDI0 from loopMidi Port B to loopMIDI Port A

and cubase
Generic remote : loopMIDI Port A=IN / loopMidi Port B=OUT
Mackie control : loopMIDI Port A=IN / loopMidi Port B=OUT

ok now i feel confident and i tried the 16channels but it doesn't work :p
the first 8 channels and the following 8 channels acts the same.

this time i set:
lemur
MIDI0 from loopMidi Port B to loopMIDI Port A
MIDI1 from loopMidi Port D to loopMIDI Port C

and cubase
Generic remote : loopMIDI Port A=IN / loopMidi Port B=OUT
Mackie control : loopMIDI Port A=IN / loopMidi Port B=OUT
Mackie control2 : loopMIDI Port C=IN / loopMidi Port D=OUT

if you have any idea ...
oh and the new question i have. when you select a track in cubase with mouse is there a solution for lemur to automatically display that track ? (lemur follows track selection) cause my sessions are about 100 tracks :p
thx again for your help ;)

I think the problem might be in te use of Loopmidi. You have to use MidiYoke for this to get it working. (at least I did, no text-displayed with loopmidi, and other instability-issues)...

And the other question about switching channels: if everything is set up correctly it should indeed work like this: if you select a channel by mouse the lemur will display this channel, and all parameters will jump to their correct values.
