Lemur iPad Via USB?

Before I buy Lemur, and I have watched the videos I wanted to know if I could simply instead attach my usb camera kit and plug that into my computer and use that as my controller instead of wifi?. I have issues with ad-hoc so I don't wish to use that at all.

Please don't say iconnect midi I simply cannot afford that, I wish simply to connect my ipad to a usb port if possible and control that.

next to the CCK you will also need a USB MIDI-interface. Actually two, one for the iPad, one for the computer. So it is better to get a MIDI-interface for iPad. iConnect is the biggest one, there are also smaller ones.

Ad-hoc wireless is quite easy to establish if you already own a laptop or wifi-card. Low latency. The only thing that doesn't work is syncing with MIDI clock. And OSC goes only with wireless.

If you've got the usb camera kit you can use any class compliant midi interface for midi communication. I've got on setup where I use a midi interface like that: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MIDI-INTERFACE- ... 3cc6bd49c0 These interfaces cost around 10 € +/-. But there a drawbacks:
- Only one Lemur port can be used (one cable one midi port)
- Power for the midi interface has to be provided by the ipad
- no OSC (I can not comment on that as I do not use OSC)?
Hope that helps,
B.

I have that cable already!!

However, I'm confused, I don't have a midi port on my laptop?.

Also going to try use rtpmidi instead.

You are right. My fault, I do use a midi-sport 2x2 interface to plug in the usb midi interface from the lemur
So if you do not want to use an wireless solution you will have to get a midi interface (btw. Today I saw the iconnect on ebay for 75$). I wonder if two cheap usb midi interfaces would do the job?
Sorry if I caused any confusion :(

No worries, can anyone explain how to use rtpmidi with lemur instead?, I can't seem to find instructions however, it works I think since it sees my ipad.

Look at the video on the liine support page (http://liine.net/en/support/lemur) In the video the use loopmidi, but the setup steps are the same.
