Hi All
Have just posted a Mu Amp Device Controller in the Library - http://liine.net/en/community/user-library/view/203/

Version 0.91b Released 02/12 Legacy and iPad versions plus Mu patch.

Try it out if you use Mu - install it into your Cycling '74/Mu 1.2/Resources/DeviceControllers/Audio Effects/Amp folder

Basic controller only - no fancy stuff yet. But it does all the controls . . .

Cheers

Thanks for providing this one.
Could you please make a basic one for Looper. The one that is included in MU doesn't have all the controls available.

Thanks alot for sharing this, man! I just got an iPad because I'd always wanted Lemur/Mu, but couldn't afford one until the Liine app became available. I'm really impressed with the customization options that seem to be available in Mu, and am likewise really surprised that there isn't more of a community surrounding this deep Ableton control environment, as well. From what I gather so far, the old JazzMutant site seemed to have been more active with Mu, so I'm glad to see that people such as yourself are keeping it alive over here!

Although I'm a newb to both Max4Live and Lemur, I do hope to trick out my own personal Mu environment, and look forward to sharing them, as well. However, a quick question perhaps you can help me with.... Is it possible to edit an existing .maxpat file using M4L and then save as a .maxpat file that I can use as a Device Controller in Mu when paired with a corresponding .jzlib? I know that it is possible to do this, but the Device Controllers aren't coming up in Mu when I do it this manner, so I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong, or if there is some difference in a M4L .maxpat and a .maxpat that comes from full Max/MSP. I don't have a full version of Max/MSP, and my Max 5 trial is expired, unfortunately. If nothing else, I may brush up on my interface building chops and then download the trial version of Max 6 and churn out as many Device Controllers as I can in a month's time, lol.

Thanks for any assistance or guidance you could lend...

Josh

@ Josh

Yup, i did it for the NordLead2 patch. I dont have Max/Msp, been on the go with a few Mu projects here but due to stresses of school they're on hold. Some of them though i think are pretty tight! All Max requires is you open it up thru Ableton. So you do edit mode on the device in ableton to edit an .amxd (M4L patch). Then in the Top just create a new patcher that is a .maxpatch, or open an existing one. If you are making a one for mu i would highly suggest opening an existing one and resave/rename it as all the Mu.lemurclient stuff you need will already be in there. just copy it for everyparameter you need.

All you need to really do is get the names of all the paramters you want for a device (ableton has one build somewhere in their M4Ltools). Open an existing .maxpatch for an existing Mu-device. Note there are 2 Mu.lemurcleints looped together. One has the OSC path for the lemur, the other is just the paramter name. All you now need to do is copy it for your parameter, and replace the associated names. Place these jzlib and new maxpatch in the Mu path and BANG you have it.

Good luck,
Protocol

@ Protocol

Thanks a lot for the advice, man! I'm super stoked to be able to make/edit Mu Device Controllers with just Max4Live! I just uploaded a couple of them to the User Library, in fact (very simple ones, lol)

Also, judging from the screengrab, your Nord Lead interface looks pretty sick. I don't have a Nord Lead, unfortunately but I was curious as to what other devices you have out there, as well? I think your contributions to the User Library may just show up as 'Legacy User', so I don't have any way to see what else you've done.

@ Josh

Well thanks so much for the praise! There is quite a bit that can be done using Mu, I have about 4 projects on the go for Mu right now and 1 for the Monome... Problem is school takes up a bunch of time so releasing the projects to the public has been slower than anticipated
However 2 of my Mu projects are close to completion, just working out some bugs with some very patient testers :D They'll be fun though, not devices like other Mu projects, rather they enable you to do customized interfaces better and must faster within Ableton.
Also thinking of doing a Moog Phatty Mu device like the NordLead2, man I love the Lemur!
So in short Josh, that's the only device i have built thus far, but in a few short months i 'should' (fingers crossed) have 4 others up there - just need to make sure they're up to par before releasing them :)

If you ever need help with Mu just hit me up, i have spent a lot of time working out how to do things in Mu...

Hi
Well done Josh - good to see someone else doing something, meant to do this after doing Amp - perfect partners . . .

I made a change or two so that the Speaker menu is fully visible in a half-pane, and 'orangefied' the colors a bit more, etc. . . .
Here is an updated version if you want to use it

@Macciza- Thanks for the edits, man! I can't believe I didn't notice the menu cut off, lol. I actually re-upped the Cabinet.jzlib mod you did, and gave you a little credit in the description.

I know I've still got a lot to learn with all of this... I look at some of the templates made by people like Antonio Blanca, Sebastien Harvey, etc. and my jaw drops to the ground. Yourself, as well, I couldn't even make something like your amp model selector system on this Amp device controller you just made. But I figure I can take care of some of the smaller/simpler stuff out there that some of the more experienced members of the Lemur community may not have time to mess with. I love downloading and playing with new Templates people have made, and upping stuff I've made makes me feel like I'm giving something back.

That said, I may have to call upon some of you more experienced Mu/Lemur builders out there as I work though this learning process. For instance, someone previously in this post had asked about a Looper template, since the factory one is very simplistic. I tried to do that one, but I ran into some problems... It seems that not all the interface elements (the important ones like the big Multi-Purpose button, etc.) come up in the parameters list, or they at least don't behave as I thought they would. Not sure if this trouble was due to my inexperience, or if the Mu developers ran into this problem and that's why the stock template is so barebones, lol. Any thoughts on that matter you may have would certainly be appreciated...

@Protocol- Thanks, dude! I hope to contribute some more devices, too, but my limited capabilities may not match up to my ambition just yet, lol. Looking forward to seeing your WIP's when they're ready, especially the one that makes device controller creation easier, lol. Maybe we can get some more people onboard with Mu device making!

No worries Josh,
Yeah something screwy with Looper - I had a look as well - meant to reply to this thread but got distracted.
Will have to have another shot at working it out - it would be good to have it as well.

Thanks for the contributions and just keep working at it and checking other peoples work out as well.
We should get together a Mu Sub-group of interested people and share stuff around
It would be great to get all the instruments Mu'd - and would like to do more Lemured versions as well with physics etc.

Cheers
