storing presets with more than 256 slots

Post by drewboles »

Hey everybody -
I am in need of some help. I've been creating preset buttons successfully with the methods laid out in the JazzMutant tutorial (more specifically, the second one, where the store and load buttons are the same).
http://www.jazzmutant.com/workshop_tuto ... id=storing

I've had success in the past with using different preset expressions (i.e. presets1, presets2, presets3, etc...) to workaround the 256 size limitation. In those cases, I used the JazzMutant scripts as a template guide, and created different scripts for the different preset banks - i.e. presets1 used to store 8 versions of a 4x4 switchboard, presets2 used to store 8 of another 4x4 switchboard, presets3 used to store misc faders and knobs, etc...).

However, I've hit a snag in that I've got a 16x16 switchboard that I want to be able to store presets with. Obviously, 16x16 takes up all the 256 slots. I've tried the same thing as above - using various preset expressions, but because each preset button now requires it's own preset expression, I can't seem to make it work the same way.

Does anybody know of the scripting/setup that will allow this. An obvious workaround is to split the switchboard into smaller ones to accommodate the limitation, but I honestly don't want to do that as I want to have the paint attribute enabled to make turning switches on/off very easy and fluid. Help? Thanks!

Drew
