Alesis ioDock via USB Midi Connection not working

I am wondering if anyone has had any success with running the Lemur app on iPad in an Alesis ioDock via the USB midi connection? So far I've had no luck. Ad hoc wi-fi is not a problem even though it seems to drop the connection every 15 minutes or so. But, at least I can make port connections with the Lemur Daemon that way. With the USB Midi connection nothing appears automatically in the connection list. Plus, if I click on ADD to add a local port, I get a list for IN/OUT where the Alesis appears in the list, but if I double click on it, it takes me to another window to select the source port, but nothing appears in that list either. Weird!!
Also, in the Lemur app, under midi target, the only two options that appear in the list are USB Midi Device (makes sense) and Session 1 (for network). Oddly enough if I restart the iPad and go back to the Lemur app, Alesis ioDock does appear grayed out in the FROM and TO under Midi Target, but if I touch FROM or TO, all I get in the list is USB Midi Device and Session 1. Anyway, I've tried whatever I can think of but no luck. I did notice that if I hot plugged the USB cable coming from the Alesis to the computer and I had the Lemur Daemon open, Alesis ioDock appears for about 1 to 2 seconds in the connection list then disappears. I thought it might have been a faulty connection on the Alesis, but I tried other iOS synths that accept and send midi and they work, not flawlessly, but they work. So the actual physical hardware USB connection seems to be ok.
Anyway, any info or suggestions would be helpful.
