you can successfully connect with rtpMIDI and TouchOSC, but not with Lemur? Do you use a router or an ad-hoc network?

I've tried rtpMIDI with both (working), usually I use and ad hoc network.

It seems the problem has to do with ad-hoc networks with dynamically allocated IPs. iOS 6 does not permit UDP broadcasting to 255.255.255.255 anymore.
Long story short: Use static IPs (better) or connect through a router (slower)
We have submitted a fix also, so this is only a temporary problem.
Kind regards,
Nicolas

I bought a router to replace my laptop-network-bridge. Now Lemur is working, but not entirely. OSC and MIDI work bi-directionally as before, only the editor connection doesn't. I can see the iPad from the editor, but when I click 'connect' there is a message 'unable to connect, host must be busy. Please check destination address and retry'.
What is going on here?

RE: STATIC IP NETWORKS (OSX)
1. Create an adhoc network via the usual means.
2. Open System Preferences > Network and click Advanced in bottom right hand corner
3. Go to TCP/IP and select DHCP with Manual address - enter 10.0.1.1
4
5. Open Settings on iPad, select WiFi and select your adhoc network.
6. Tap the right arrow next to it and select Static - enter 10.0.1.2 for IP and 255.255.0.0 for SubnetMask
7.
iPad should now connect and show connection icon
Lemur MIDI Targets should show all options
Everything should now work
Cheers

Thanks for this! I started using a static IP on my Computer/Ipad and Lemur works perfectly (Windows 7 64bit).

does your iPad run on iOS 6? If yes, what wireless card do you have?
EDIT: today I can't connect at all with Lemur. I didn't change my router settings. This is crazy. The only good thing is, I seem to be the only one having problems. The bad thing is, nobody can help me.

good news. Finally, after countless hours of fiddling, it is working with iOS 6 iPads and static addresses using a router. To be honest, I still don't know exactly what it was. The only thing I changed was the router's channel bandwidth from 20/40 MHz to 20 MHz. Maybe that was it, but I'm not sure, and I don't have the nerve now to investigate the cause, I'm just happy to be back in the game.
These are my settings:
router:
frequency: 5GHz
wireless mode: auto
control channel: auto
channel bandwidth: 20MHz
authentication method: WPA2-Personal
WPS disabled
IP address: 192.168.1.1
Windows 7 computer:
IP address: 192.168.1.x (static)
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
iPad iOS 6:
IP address: 169.254.204.x (static)
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Aaaah, I can tell you, this is a big relief. I use those iPads daily for OSC and MIDI control, and for two weeks two of them were almost unusable, only one that I didn't update to iOS 6 was functional. But even this one became almost unusable when I changed from ad-hoc to router WiFi.
I'm back in the game, and I can use again Lemur, KP, V-Control, TouchOSC, TagDisk, FileBrowser, XDisplay, AVPlayer, etc. like before. What still doesn't work is the wireless connection to iTunes. Only the iOS 5.1.1 iPad can connect to iTunes running on my hackintosh, on Windows it doesn't work at all. That's a bit odd, but not a real problem. Auria should get wireless file transfer in the next months, so there's nor real need for iTunes.

I haven't yet had the time to try this static IP work around yet, but am hopeful.
I am however, curious when the update will be available on the App Store, i heard updates were a standard 7 days (not working days) for aproval and it was 2 fridays ago now since it was submitted!
Nearly had to cancel a DJ set 2 minutes before I went on and also the same thing with a live show, spent the whole 20 minutes soundcheck opening and closing lemur, and going to settings to connect to network and opening laemur daemon over and over - this is a MEGA problem!
Does anyone know if you can use the camera connection kit as a stand alone midi connector without needing the iconnect Midi device or another midi interface - i currently use the saffire Pro DSP 24 and there is no usb midi input slot for that.
Many thanks in advance!
S

ever since this ios6 fiasco I've been using the apple camera connection kit along with this:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/M-Audio-USB ... agpspn=pla, and it works perfectly. I haven't been able to get the static address thing to work yet, on windows 7 64 bit.
Got static ip working perfectly, just as instructed by Macciza, works on windows 7 64 bit also! Thanks!
