Many people and myself have posted questions and (sometimes months later) solutions to that matter, in the Neyrinck forum, TouchOSC forum, KP forum, Apple forum, other places, here. I really recommend to spend an evening with investigation, it's worth it to professionally use your iPad.
Man, I was mad when something didn't work! I fully understand your frustration. But it leads to nowhere, obviously. One needs to get the head together and really want a solution. Then one will find it, I guarantee.

Hmmmm . . . the Neyrinck forum you say?
Can I take it you've used vControl Pro then Phil? Been thinking about checking this out further (the demo / lite version isn't very helpful in making a purchasing decision - too crippled) - but I'm a tad reluctant to pour more money into iDeviceware given that it's all so (mostly) non-interoperable as part of a larger system.
The v-windows . . . they work well?
Of course, I'm also reluctant to spend the sort of (negligible really, but it's the principle) cash they want for a few skinned midi controls and Miracast (available at an order of magnitude less in non music-related apps).
Here's an interesting one for those of you on Mac:

interesting, this c74. Glad there are many good choices (you'll need to have Max/MSP I assume).
Yes, the V-Window is the special thing in V-Control that separates it from other DAW controller apps. But even without I could recommend it. Scrub/Shuttle, two programmable buttons in Cubase, and it just works. Replaces a full Mackie Control, without tactile control of course, but if your eyes are still intact, you really have a MCU in your pocket with V-Control.
I find the V-Window very handy for plugins I didn't cover with Lemur or other controllers. Mono-touch only, but that's sufficient for that spontaneous tweak to any plugin in almost any DAW and situation. Works great, no recognisable latency over WiFi.
Edit: regarding Emulator, Usine, Surface Editor, etc. Just saw there is another one:

Hi phil999 ! sorry for the late answer, i was ill...flu (not shure if it is the wright word for the A/h1n1...) then go .
my ip 169.254.3.1 (computer static ip) , ipad : 169.254.3.8 (static ip to) . subnet for both 255.255.255.0
i choose this ip for my ipad cause it is the same as my original lemur and i use osc with static ip for max modules.
my usb wifi card is aD-link DWA-110 with drivers up to date .
then doctor ?;)
i connected my new-original lemur and everything work great ...so it's a bit short in memory and it's hard to get back to that but really it work without any problem of deconnection , lag, bug etcetc...that's it !
but i wait for the jailbraik of the ipad and i will get back on it .
ooh, i forgot. i'm on ios 6.0.1 on an ipad 2 .

Cheers Phil, hadn't met anyone who used VCP - sounds worth a punt.
That Ctrlr prog reminds me of a similar (actually, identical) idea some people played about with via Synthedit a good few years ago - then Steinberg introduced the functionality to build / include custom GUI panels right into the mixer in Cubase and the whole thing just fizzled out (AFAIK).

that should work. Maybe try with a lower number for the second octet (254), but that's just a wild guess.
Why it doesn't work well is difficult to say - I bought a brand new 5GHz-router and have interruptions, while I have permanent connection with older netbook/laptops. Resetting the network setting on the iPad usually fixes that problem with the router. Have you tried that?
Although it's a different thing, I had bad experiences with two bluetooth sticks (for other devices). Both didn't work. Maybe those WiFi USB sticks aren't suited for music controlling?
If controlling is that important (for me it is, and also for you I guess), one should have more than one option ready. I have several laptops and a netbook, a dedicated router only for WiFi, I'm on the safe side where nothing can go wrong.

You know what. I think that the wifi is just not reliable enough. It never been made for a stage where many kind of electric sources could interfere each others like we could find on a festival stage . The solution. The real solution ? A wire.
Really it s the only option for me to save my time. I spent to mutch time in a wifi solution. Wifi is by nature, not the solution on the stage .then get back on legacy lemur is for me a true fonctionnal solution before the jailbreak of my ipad. Closed subject for me. Thanks for your help.
Ps : i already spend time in finding solution on topic . No burn proof solution in wifi.

CO sign.
if you search back 3 weeks (NYE 2013) I was frantically trying to find the same solutions you gusy were.
playing in 10-12 different venues a month I had to adjust fire, and problem solve at each.
strong network, no problem.... aside from the occasional drop off from the LEMUR DAEMON.
no network, finally worked out the Static IP solution with Ios6 (255.0.1 & 255.0.2 in the settings)
In private network mode im subject to 5-12 LEMUR DEAMON fails a night.
i try to use lemur, no response... look at my task bar, no daemon. fire it up, sometimes 2, 3 times and refind the midi target, and im good for 2 minutes, or 2 hours.
whats aggrivating, as someone said, I bough an ipad, and lemur SOLEY for this.
all the while my friends are using a jalbroken TouchOSC via usb cable and are loving life with a $5 app.

That's not a function of TouchOSC though - that's a function of the jailbreak being available for the hardware and OS, and the choice to go ahead and jailbreak or not.
Liine have made it clear they don't offer support for jailbroken machines - and this is a reasonable stance IMO*. So it boils down to what you can, and are willing to do / sacrifice.
* Hadn't made that clear before, this should clarify. Further, I believe anyone who *has* jailbroken should probably stick to lurking when it comes to tech support issues - fair's fair.

Hi
djjoshua - if the Daemon is crashing could you please send in CrashReports for it to help find the cause . . .
It may be some other app or process that is causing the problem at a system level . . .
Re: Jailbreaking - Basically it is illegal on iPads and was only nominally allowable under certain circumstances with iPhones.
As such we (in fact any iOS devs) are not really allowed to support such activity . . .
Also I have seen a number of crashlogs where the JB system was responsible for the crash -even from some who claimed legit systems . . .
For me there are too many things that TO simply cannot do, for me to worry about it anymore . ..
cheers
