Hey everybody.
I was wondering if I could use a wired connection instead of the wifi. Is there any device for connecting the iPad to wired Ethernet, and how can this be done with the deamon?
Iam tired of using the wifi connection, there is dropouts, its sometimes slow and its not reliable.
-Thx
Connect over wired ethernet
Re: Connect over wired ethernet
Depending on the vintage of your iDevice and iOS, the answer is (possibly) here:

. . . or is entirely academic (for the time being, at least).
I've put a block in my Hosts file (Windows) on updating my iOS any further while I await technical circumvention of a DRM scheme for interoperability reasons, which (I believe) is perfectly legal despite vague handwaving and dark mutterings to the contrary by some. Perhaps a list of jurisdictions and applicable statutes added to the FAQ would come in handy here? You know . . . to avoid confusion.
That's really all I can say on the matter here, but it's a big internet.

Re: Connect over wired ethernet
Hi
If all you need is MIDI, (rather than Love, or OSC) then I would recommend getting the iConnectMIDI device . . .
It provides a very stable connection to your computer via a small box that gives 2 x MIDI Din I/Os and a MIDI Host port that will support up to 8 devices as well . . .
I get pretty stable adhoc wifi with and iMac and an iPad 2, and slightly variable performance over a local network with varying traffic etc . . .
There is some hope for OSC though because there are some major player backend network solutions that use a direct connection that are being investigated . . .
Not sure what you mean in regards to circumvention of DRM but re Jailbreaking iPads, its not really legal and we can't really provide support for hacked systems anyway, sorry . . .
Cheers
