Hi, it's come to this. I bought the lemur app and am having trouble finding info that works to hook it up to my system; ableton 8.2.7, max for live, windows xp, ipad2.
I created an ad hoc network and it works fine with touch osc. I've connected lemur through wifi midi and was able to map a fader. When I named the host for lemur (mycomputer.local. (port 8000) ) there is no choice for lemur in my ableton control surface selector (i see kapture pad, but havent tried to hook that up yet) I installed the lemur editor and the daemon is running(although i deleted ports from the daemon when i stopped usnig midi). My intensions are to get mu working (yet i can't get a basic fader working). I dragged mu to the master track and it came up on the device and I was able to get the template of the grid on the ipad. It seems I just need the control surface to come up. In the lemur daemon griid comes up as a port option, yet i dont have griid. if I double click it it sees my ipad, but it seems like they want me to choose a midi yoke port, which I thought i didn't need with osc. I watched the video on the site but its using max and not ableton so im not sure what i'm doing wrong. I tried to open the mu script in max for live and it repeatedly said "no such object".
This is driving me crazy, i hope you can point out my idiotic oversight!
THANX

Ableton understands only MIDI, that's why you need the Lemur daemon and virtual MIDI ports. You select the virtual ports in Lemur (daemon must be running), and then you can select those virtual ports in Ableton.

Hi
First - have you installed Mu properly into your /Max/Cycling 74 folder - it needs to be there or objects won't be found.
Second - Lemur / Mu are not implemented as Control Surfaces per se - though AumHaa's Monomodular system does have some Lemur projects setup as CS's.
Ableton Live can receive OSC via M4L or LiveOSC systems
So, have you gone through the Mu manuals setup instructions?
Did the Mu project load from the Mu device in Live - if so than OSC to Lemur is fine.
Have you setup your Osc Targets in Lemur? Mu defaults to OSC Target 0 set to 8000 - set that up or change the port to match yours in Mu device.
Try those things and see how you go . . .
Cheers

I didn't know that. So the Lemur daemon isn't necessary I guess, and what I wrote is obsolete.Macciza wrote: Ableton Live can receive OSC via M4L or LiveOSC systems

Re: Osc connection issue (iPad, ableton, windows)
Does anyone know where to find a step by step instructions how to set this up? I can't figure it out to save my life. Looking for OSC communication on Windows 7 to control Ableton via Lemur on iPad2 and an Mu template.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
The Mu stuff is available here - http://liine.net/en/products/lemur/premium/mu/
Mu uses M4L to communicate via OSC to the Mu device - you need M4L for Mu.
Setting up Lemur OSC output is done on the Lemur apps Settings page and is covered in the Lemur Manual.
Hope that helps

Re: Osc connection issue (iPad, ableton, windows)
My cousin was having a similar kind of issue. I don’t what she did to fix the problem, but is working as of now. I think she had to get a service center guy and fix the things. It was some complication with Ableton.
