Hi Lemurs,
I'm stuck on the 1st rung of the ladder - I have a new windows 8 pc and d/led lemur about a week ago. I have been able to copy templates via Itunes to Lemur on my Ipad 2, and i want to try something very simple initally, I.e. use the N.I Pro 53/B4 templates.
My first problem is that I can't create an adhoc network on my win8 pc as the option no longer exists under windows 8.
My second problem is that after launching the Lemur editor , it will not maximize or display on the desktop, so i cannot design my own or examine other templates.
I have had success configuring my loopmidi ports(a & b),configuring the Lemur Daemon ports(after reading about the 3 dots trick elsewhere on this site), I was then able to switch on the loopmidi ports in N.I. REaktors midi settings, then load the Lemur project "Midi keypads" and tap away, but thats about it.
Ideally I woul appreciate some kind soul talking me through getting me round my first problem(see above). At the moment i,m just plinkity-plonkiting via the "midi keypads" project and not able to do much else, other than scratch the growing itchy rash on my head.
Eventually I would like to use it to control Cubase 5, but that horizon now seems far, far away at the moment.
Thank you for looking
Best.
Andy

When you open Lemur a very thin line appears across the top of the desktop. Trace it with your mouse to the right side until it changes to a sizing arrow. When the cursor changes drag down and resize the window, annoying, but it works for now.
Never bothered with adhoc, wifi works fine for me.

Re: "windows 8" I cannot create and Adhoc network - FIX
Hi
Why they dropped easy adhoc network creation in W8 is beyond me but they did . . .
But there is a way around it using netsh - the Net Shell utility
Do a web-search for 'setup adhoc windows 8' and you should find plenty of links to info on how to do it
We, along with many others, are looking into more elegant solutions . . .
Cheers

While not exactly the most elegant solution, it should be possible to do the above as a script / batchfile . . . short step from there to Autohotkey compiled script.
Probably work best with Static IPs.
As an interim / pragmatic solution it could suffice. Or just tell people to download Connectify. Of course, as I read it, either solution is dependent on the wifi hardware in the laptop supporting virtualised networking - ought not be too hard to obtain a list / cutoff point for the vast majority of in-use wifi chips out there.
Random thoughts on the issue.

Hi whatisvalis,
Yes, I have tried in vain to select any part of the "thin line" which is my lemur editor, that appears on my Win 8 desktop. Nothing is grabbable or selectable at all. On a separate note, Re loopmidi, it also appears as a thin line on the desktop, but i have been able to select the the 3 dots on it's right hand side and then continue working. I did get a reply from Liine support saying "We are currently working on updates for Windows 8 compatibility(Lemur Editor) and hope to have it out before too long though I cannot commit to a date presently". I guess i'll just have to hold off using this until Liine update it's comparability.
I was also wondering whether i could P.M. you privately to discuss how you setup your ipad Lemur and how you are using it currently over wifi. I'm sure i'm being a bit of an idiot as i can't get passed just working with the "midi pads" template. Would this be at all possible? On a separate note i am thoroughly enjoying using Spectrasonics Onmisphere TR on the ipad if you have ever heard of it- no config/setup issues - just hit "connect" on the TR app and i have instant wifi control over the vsti. So, to recap can I please P.M. you?
Hi Macciza,
Yes I have tried using netsh - the Net Shell utility, but the cmd shell reports that my desktop pc does not have a wireless interface on my system(see attached file). This is a bit strange as I can easily use other wifi apps without issues such as Omnisphere TR.
Hi joe soap,
I'm using a desktop pc, so your solution won,t work , I'm afraid.
I'd like to thank all three of you for responding to my issue.
Cheers Guys
Best.

If you download my XYPad template from the user library and look at the PDF you will see screen shots of how I have everything set.
I guess wifi can be hit or miss depending on your set-up
Strange regarding Win 8, i've attached a screen cap you can just make out the line of the editor

Hi.
My solution is exactly the same as what the others have mentioned, doesn't matter if it's a laptop or desktop. Can't speak to why netsh isn't seeing any wifi device, except to note that the wifi device must support virtualised networking for any of this to work . . . perhaps yours doesn't? This might be addressed by a driver update.
I posted a solution to the Editor windowing elsewhere on the forums, but I'll repeat it here:
http://winsplit-revolution.com/
Not tested this on Win 8, but it works a treat under Win 7.
