Greetings,
I am planning on getting the new iPad (version 4) to run the Lemur app in connection to a Windows 7/64 machine running Cubase via an AdHoc wireless.
Has anyone had a chance to test 4? I know for a fact that iPad 2 runs smoothly...
Also...I think iPad4 comes loaded with IOS 5.1.1. If so, should I update it to IOS6.01 or would it be safer to stick with 5.1.1? AdHoc connectivity is crucial for me (for low latency).
Thank you.
Question about new iPad and iOS version
Re: Question about new iPad and iOS version
I have got the new iPad 4 and I can confirm it doesn't work with the adhoc.
First of all it came with IOS 6 (not 5.1.1 as i thought) so I updated it to 6.01.
It works well through the WiFi Router (it connect immediately to the Daemon) but...the latency is ridiculous!
Now, in order to get rid of the latency... I have created an AdHoc Wifi network as per the instructions found on this forum (static IP) and it could successfully connect to it. However - as soon as I leave the Settings app and open (launch) the Lemur app - the iPad gets disconnected (and it obviously can't be seen by Daemon). I have tried many many time, different IPs, static, everything. I even suspected my iPad4 was defective, returned it, got a replacement - to no avail.
So please allow me to ask again - has anyone tried the new iPad 4 with the Lemur app and AdHoc Wifi connection? Anyone had success with it?
I should also mentioned that I tried an iPad2 (not mine) and an iPhone 5 and they both worked great without any glitch with my AdHoc wifi.
Out of desperation I also bought the camera kit, plugged a Midi interface in it - success, but then I realized there was no way I could charge the iPad while working with midi (camera kit). Not good. Camera Kit is a no go.
Can the developers (or anybody else) please help me with an advice. Should I really return the iPad4 and get an older iPad2 instead?

Re: Question about new iPad and iOS version
I look forward to hearing your verdict, Phil999.
Re: Question about new iPad and iOS version
so far no problems. I think the iPad should be updated to 6.0.1, there seem to be some improvements over 6.0.

Re: Question about new iPad and iOS version
Interesting...thank you.
Could it be the USB NIC wifi adapter? I have a good one, supposedly, Asus n-class/5Ghz.

Re: Question about new iPad and iOS version
no, if it's a newer adapter I think that is not the cause. Maybe the IP addresses? I recently set all computers, iPads, and the router to 192.168.1.x and 255.255.255.0, and have (almost) no connection problems anymore. iOS 6.01.
