First hello & Ableton Clip Grid

Post by julien »

Hi there,
I'm julien from France
I just bought Lemur for Ipad
I already played a lot with it to make strange and specific interfaces for some livesets.
It is incredibly easy to use.

BUT, is there a way to control the Live clips grid ?
I mean, without setting up manually a HUGE matrix to each clip slot of course..
I used to use Touchable for that but in that case, I would switch to Lemur iOS..

Julien, I checked out your bio and your description of your sonic data manipulations is very cool - ill definitely be checking out your music. Also it's a bit late, but in case you still are looking for a grid, have you checked out MU? Some find it a bit tricky, but personally I had it up and running in minutes and now use it quite often. It has a easily configurable grid, along with every other type of template you can possibly imagine.

cheers from seattle,

Hi there,
yes I found MU and I tweaked it a bit.

I just added two machines to my setup and I'll probably use iPad with Lemur and MU to control the whole pattern/clip changes.

thanks for your interest.
let's keep in touch.

Hello Julien, welcome to the Liine forum!

If you have a look inside the Mu MFL Device, as I'm sure you already might have, you can see we made a big effort to present clean, modular code. Several artists have already taken this apart and used it as a basis for their own specific Ableton Lemur controller. One thing to keep in mind though is that this was created in late 2009, before MFL supported persistent id numbers. So there's code in there to cache all the ids of the clips, etc.

Best,
Nicolas
