yes. That is why I rarely use Quickcontrol. It does what it says, it is handy to quickly setup a few controllers for one plugin. In the Generic Remote I find it better to control the plugins directly. And Quickcontrol can have its own xml in the Device Setup. The author of this CC121 template probably wanted to make the entire setup easier and used only one xml instead of two.gstew wrote:I'll try adding the quick control but I'll have to do that with each track I use right?

Re: xml for cubase 6
hey,
so I have a basic template set up with a multi ball x and y axis and a fader. X is set to CC1 and y to CC11 and the fader is set to CC7. I used the learn function in Generic Remote to set the address' for fader 1,2 and 3.
in the 2nd large box underneath I have fader 1,2 and 3 but don't know what to select under Device or Channel or Value, there's a lot of options and can;t seem to get the right combination. Is it a command or a VST mixer ,can;t figure it out.
thanks,
G

Re: xml for cubase 6
What exactly are you trying to control? Just modulation and volume?
Setting-up a generic remote is only needed if you want to assign controls to specific functions within Cubase

Re: xml for cubase 6
hi,
I want to use it with EWQL Hollywood strings to control the expressioncc11,(which is dynamics) and mod wheel cc1 (which is vibrato depending on the patch), I wanted to have all this on the xy axis of the multil bass and then on a separate fader have the track volume cc7. I'd use all the other stuff on the cc121 template,it looks great but the main reason I got it was to work with strings etc...and the multi ball approach looks perfect for cc11+cc1.
thnx

Re: xml for cubase 6
do you have EWQL Hollywood strings loaded in your VSTinstruments window?

Re: xml for cubase 6
ya,I have an instrument loaded. I see the orange indicator in the transport reacting when I move the multi ball but it has no effect on cc11 or cc1.
Re: xml for cubase 6
when it's loaded, you can make the assignment in the lower part of the Generic Remote. You can also find instructions in the Cubase manual.

hi,
so what do I load it as under device ? and then what do I put under channel and value? I've gone over the Cubase manual a million times and can;t figure it out.
thanks,

Re: xml for cubase 6
If you have the vst instrument loaded then it will appear as an option in the Devices column of the generic remote, 2nd window. You can select it and give the desired targets the CCs you want etc.
Re: xml for cubase 6
exactly.
But I feel for you, it can be confusing. But be assured, once you get a hang of it, it won't be difficult anymore. The Generetic Remote Device is terribly outdated, but in fact still a very powerful tool to control anything you want in your DAW. It can handle 'normal' MIDI and high resolution MIDI bi-directionally. This is, even in 2012, not very common.
