xml for cubase 6
hi,
If I edit a template in lemur editor how do I create an xml file for cubase? Is it just the extension name that needs to be changed? I loaded up the CC121 template from the Liine site and wanted to assign cc11 and cc1 to the x and y axis of the multi ball, seem top have done it in lemur editor and saved the new jzml file but assume I need a new xml.
thanks,
G

Re: xml for cubase 6
No, you need to specify what target coming out of Lemur goes to which Cubase function, via the generic remote/XML. Go to Devices / Devices Set-up / and click on the loaded remote XML file. You will see a list of targets and corresponding 'Addresses' that relate to the midi CC number that the controller outputs.
If you are using my CC121 template, by default the XY sends out on x 14 and y 15. If you look for those numbers in the Address column of the XML in Cubase, you will see they are set to control Quick Control 1 + 2. If you want to change the target from QC 1+2 to something else click on the device column for QC1 and choose a new target.
I would recommend creating a new lemur project, with just a multiball set to ouput what you want. Then create a new Generic Remote in Cubase and set that up to receive the multiball's XY. This way you will understand how Cubase works with controllers etc.

Re: xml for cubase 6
not quite sure if this is the right answer, but if you change CC numbers in Lemur, you have to change those controllers in the Generic Remote as well, and save the new xml.
EDIT: I see it's been answered already.
Ah, not quite yet. In the Generic Remote Device, you can MIDI-learn the new CC.

Re: xml for cubase 6
hey,
I'm a little slow and can;t figure this out. could you walk me through how to change the target of the QC1 and QC2 to CC11(expression) and CC1(mod wheel)?
here's what I'm looking at in generic remote:

Quickcontrols are set in the Editor window. Each MIDI-channel has its own QC setting.

in the Lemur editor window?
Re: xml for cubase 6
sorry, I meant the Project window. The Project window in Cubase where you have the channels, the Inspector, and in the Inspector the Quickcontrols for each MIDI channel.

Re: xml for cubase 6
Just click on 14 under 'Addresses' and enter the desired Midi CC.
Note if you use a CC that is already assigned in the template you will end-up with some conflicts.
Your best bet is like Phill suggested, just leave the template as is, go to the Daw seq window and open the QC view on the Channel view. There's an arrow/button above the 8 slots that allows you to learn a control, so click learn then move whatever it is you want to control (vst parameter) and it will be assigned to that QC.

Re: xml for cubase 6
I've changed the Address' to CC11 and CC1 but no effect on the multi ball, the address for Quick Control 1 is now 11 and QC 2 is 1. I'll try adding the quick control but
I'll have to do that with each track I use right? thnx for your patience.
