arts|UNMUTED templates for controlling orchestral libs

Post by artsUNMUTED »

Hi all Lemur users!

I’d like to introduce arts|UNMUTED - the project aimed at creating advanced templates for Liine Lemur for iPad for controlling leading orchestral libraries (and more soon). I have always wanted more tactile control over the sound libraries I use in my studio. So I made a couple of templates for Liine Lemur for my own use and found them so useful that I have decided to make them available for a small fee for other users.
Liine Lemur makes possible to create highly scripted and dynamic control surfaces which means that you see only the controllers and articulations for the selected instruments. At the moment, there are 3 templates available for controlling ProjectSAM Symphobia 1&2, 8dio Requiem Pro and Audiobro LASS v1.5. More templates will follow soon.
Additionally, art|UNMUTED templates offer some additional value for Cubase and Nuendo users - you get the complete set of expression maps for all instruments covered by the given template plus Generic Remote file that enables you to use the template for selecting tracks in Nuendo and Cubase.
Please have a look at the videos (apologies for my English - I am not a native speaker), screenshots and manuals at http://artsunmuted.com. Perhaps you will find my templates interesting and useful in your studio.

Here is also a general info video: http://vimeo.com/36333829

Happy composing!

that's very interesting what you are doing. I have made my own Cubase template with Generic Remote Device only, and was wondering if your qb template has stereo meters or not.

Hi Phil,

Unfortunately I didn't manage to make stereo meters - I think it is Mackie Control protocol limitation. As far as I remember it has only mono meters next to faders.

Thanks for kind word:-).

thank you for the reply. Yes that was what I was thinking, I also didn't manage to make stereo meters with Generic Remote. It is, of course, a Cubase limitation. This "Meter All" destination is for all channels, be it mono, stereo, or multi. So (I guess) all levels get mixed together into "Meter All". And that's what it says.

The V-Control app from Neyrinck has stereo meters. It uses the Mackie HUI protocol. But I'm not sure if it is even possible to get this message into Lemur. Maybe it is, as these are MIDI messages. But I haven't found a complete table for all Mackie Control and Mackie HUI commands. It is also questionable if the effort is really worth it. You need to add another device in Cubase, use another MIDI port in Lemur (and two in Loopmidi/Windows), just to get stereo meters. It may get interesting if one also fetches channel names (which is possible in Lemur) with this setup, or even parameter names (not sure if possible). But there I think OSC is a much better way to work with, albeit there are not so much DAW's that have it implemented.

Anyway, I have found that Lemur is very good for creating a DAW control surface. Looking at qb's user manual, it is incredible what you can do. You have done a fine job here, this is the most sophisticated Cubase template I have ever seen. And I have no doubt your other works are the same high quality.

Lemur is amazing. I have got Avid MC Pro in my studio which is getting less and less use since I made qb:-). qb is a power house - and I don't want to advertise it - I made it primarily for myself and I use it extensively - a couple years ago I would pay a lot to have all these functions in such a compact form. And Lemur faders and knobs are super responsive - no comparison with V-Control or other iPad Mackie emulations. Soon qb will be updated with some nice functionality. I have implemented some nice functions in my x1 template for Studio One - like custom icons (lots of work with text - and 3.2 update screws all of this) and menu behavior which improves working with submenus and sections triggered with smart switches. See the tutorial at: http://youtu.be/neWHTcgXSaE. I love working with it:-).

good job with the custom icons! And with the overall design I might add despite the fact there are no real design elements at the moment in Lemur like lines or backgrounds. Your templates prove that you can do many 'impossible' things.
