What port is Lemur receiving on?

Post by fader8 »

Hi,
Just getting started with Lemur. I'd like to send OSC messages from Osculator to several IOS devices running Lemur. However, I apparently need to know what port Lemur is receiving on to be able to configure these messages in Osculator. Anyone have a clue where I may find that info?

Sending any OSC to Lemur doesn't appear to be a straightforward task. The manual hints at it but seems to be written more for folks using the Lemur daemon, which we don't particularly want to run. Any advice from users is appreciated. Thought I'd try here before sending in an official support request.

Hi,

Check out section 8.3 of the Lemur manual (p. 58): "Always remember that OSC is bi-directional and that OSC Targets can also control Lemur’s Objects. Lemur is hard-coded to listen on Port 8000."

Best regards,
Nick

Thanks Nick. I was trying port 8001 since whenever I open the connection dialog in Lemur Editor, my Lemur'd iPad shows up as port 8001. Is this a discrepancy, or is it supposed to be like that?

Port 8001 is reserved for communication from the Lemur Editor. Normal communication with music gear is on port 8000.
