adding a page to Mu?

Post by benjamingordon »

hi. I'm pretty new with Mu and I also have no idea how to create, edit or read a max patch.

i want to add some pages/interfaces to my Mu plugin.

can someone please tell me in laymen's terms how to go about this?

thanks!

Hi Benjamin

At its most basic level it just a matter of opening the Mu project from with in the /Max/Cycling74/mu/Resources/jzmls folder and editing it.
I would suggest saving it under a different name there as well. You can have different default projects in different Live sets via the Mu device.

Do not rename or touch anything in the Mu part of the Lemur Project. Add an extra Interface and build/paste your interface there.
Possibly best to use MIDI for your output and map it in Live as needed.

ie. Add a custom interface that allows you control of FX and Synthesis parameters across several tracks - with Physics of course . . .
Then you could trigger tracks and controls FX either from Mu's 2 FX slots or tab across to your other interface and do your thing.

Depending on level of interaction required with Mu itself and what you want to do this should be achievable fairly easily.
The original hardware version had projects built to get around memory constraints at the time and could probably be integrated fairly easily as well.
Of course doing stuff in Max and hooking into some of Mu's option s would give far greater options but also be more complex.

There are a few people woking separately on Mu stuff so you should follow those discussions as well.
Maybe we can look at implementing an easy way to include extra interfaces - I think someone is working on this already . . .?

Hope that helps
