multiple ABreakpoints in one template
multiple ABreakpoints in one template
I would like to have up to 8 ABreakpoint interfaces in one template to control up to 8 synthesisers at the same time. Each ABreakpoint interface with a different MIDI channel. These MIDI channels can be fixed, e.g. 1-8. The 8 Continuous Controller numbers should remain editable if possible.
Who can put this together? There are a bunch of scripts and expressions on the project level. Some of them have to be moved to the interface level, which might be not so easy to do.
In the attachment there are 8 templates with labels so that they can be distinguished from each other.
EDIT: correction with words, I mixed up interface and template.

Re: multiple ABreakpoints in one template
Just trying to grasp what you are trying to achieve. Very ambitious I must say. Currently you've got eight externally clocked interfaces (that is templates right now) which need to be worked into one template. Technically doable, just wondering if it is possible to get the timing right.
Just as an afterthought, woudn't it be nice to use more than one ipad in this scenario?
I wish I could dig more into this challenge, but 'real life' aka work distractes me too much
Good luck,
B.

Re: multiple ABreakpoints in one template
two iPads running ABreakpoint to control two synthesisers works well. If I could do this with one iPad, and with even more (up to 8) synths/samplers, that would be great. The MIDI clock input should be the same for all interfaces.
I just would like to play live what I do in the studio with overdubbing. This ABreakpoint is a good random note generator because it also can have a rhythmic randomness. I try to emulate those "source of uncertainty"-kind of note/trigger generators I am missing in my modular system. With a clever Lemur template this is all possible.

Re: multiple ABreakpoints in one template
Hi Phil,
I have tried that several times, but every time I had a corrupt file at some point. I haven't tried again.
May I to ask if you're using reaktor? Just asking because I've recreated something like ABreakpoint time ago for reaktor, it's a more minimalistic version but it has some features there aren't on ABreakpoint like different trigger modes, note pitch transposition via MIDI/QWERTY keyboard, and it will work better for Sync purposes imo. You could use it inside of any DAW or stand alone.
I imagine would be quite easy to create a MIDI template for it, then duplicate the instruments and lemur patches.
The instrument is here if you're interested:

edit:
There is a cool user's video controlling it...with the FACE!

Re: multiple ABreakpoints in one template
thank you guys. It seems even more difficult than I expected. I leave it for the moment and continue with recording/oberdubbing. Maybe I can do multiple real-time controlling with the Esowave template, or with a self-made template.
When playing live with a bassist and a horn player (trumpet, sax, flute), very often I feel a bit restricted with two DAW's, keyboard controller, and iPads. I can play one or two things live, but not more. I want to create a musical/noise background for the musicians, adapting their tempo and notes on the fly. That's why I rarely use sequencers, arpeggiators, or prefab loops; live electronics have to be played live in my system. But there are so many things to think about, channels, ports, sync, etc., and I don't only want to free my hands, I also want to free my mind. A Lemur template for multiple instruments can help in this regard, so that I have more hands and mind free for listening to the other musicians and even start improvising. I am not a musician, but what I like most is playing music.
Sorry, I was a bit carried away. Yes I have Reaktor, and I'm not sure if I have tried NOD-E already. Will try it out tonight. While I never get tired with virtual instruments, I'm using Lemur more and more with analog synthesisers.

Re: multiple ABreakpoints in one template
Hi Phil,
I understand you, I rarely do use sequencers either , or other "tempo sync" stuff, still I prefer the nosync ABreakpoint version though, it's more playable imho and note triggering follows the vektor. I do use of the same way you do, recording/overdub, no presets, just recording the moment.
So I think NOD-E can work, you can use it with Hardware too if you want, all controls are mappeable via MIDI or OSC.
Cheers,
AB

Re: multiple ABreakpoints in one template
yes indeed. I did not grasp that NOD-E is a note generator. That's a good thing, in a DAW I can use as many NOD-E's as I want, and trigger instruments hard- and software. Thanks again Antonio, you are brilliant. Tonight is going to happen a rather complex session at my place. I have not yet tried faceOSC, but this brought me the idea of using webcams, a Doepfer Theremin controller, joysticks, next to the Lemurs to control NOD-E's.
Next to the good random note generator, I would also like an array of manually triggerable bouncing balls that behave like ping-pong balls. A falling, bouncing ball is a very natural kind of oscillator. Our ear is familiar with this sound. That's why I want to use it to trigger notes, much better than the Korg Nanopad drum roll that has to be dynamically played with the x-y pad. What I have here (http://liine.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1322) is usable, but it's not there yet. There should be settings possible to create Euler-disk-like oscillations.

I can do such things with a voltage-controlled LFO (VCLFO module, hardware), but Lemur is so much more versatile.

Hi Phil,
You're welcome, yes, it is a note generator indeed derived from ABreakpoint, but with some different features.
Looking forward to know more about of your projects, sounds interesting!

Hi Guys
Not sure if you were still chasing this . . .
But it is fun with a bunch of different ambient pads and gongs so . . .
Cheers

Ooops
May have spoke too soon . . .
Still a few issues with it to be sorted out - sorry about that . . .
Almost there but . . .
