Target vs. Object Target

Post by SpinSymmetryMusic »

What exactly is the difference between the midi target and object target. Can someone give me an example of how these two different fields are used.

hi
Basically the Object Targrt is a default for all the variables local to the object itself . . .
Below is the Variable Target which can be set seperately for individual variables if needed . . .

An example - Sending MIDI messages to different outputs easily from the one object
Umm Sending Fader.x to control one thing say a level in Live whilst sending Fader.z to do something somewhere else like switch a hardware effect. .
Cheers

awesome, thanks man. That cleared it up a lot for me actually. I read through the manual and even though it was helpful, it wasn't too clear in a few areas. So basically as I understand it. The object target is what all the variables of that object are being sent to. So say if I set the whole project folder as Object Target: Midi0, then by default all the variables are being sent to, say, Ableton(Midi0). However, I can as you said, set the x variable of a fader (Fader.x) to Target:Midi0(Ableton) to control a track level, while at the same time assigning the z variable (Fader.z) to Target:Midi(1),say Massive, for a program change, or whatever else. Now when the z variable (Fader.z) is set to none, then obviously it has no effect, just as if the z variable was unchecked in the project window.
