maintaining switch status after changing 'column' attribute

Post by drewboles »

Hello everybody -
I'm currently building a step sequencer with switch objects.
I have a fader that acts to control the number of columns in sequencer. The default number of columns is 16, but I can vary this with the fader, from 1-16.
I'm wondering, though, if there is any way to preserve the status of switches if their respective column is temporarily removed, and then later replaced.

For example, say I have columns 14, 15, and 16 activated on my switch board, but then change the switch to have only 10 columns. If I then move the fader back to it's original position, my switches have the original 16 columns, but the activated switches on 14, 15, and 16 are no longer activated.

Is there any way to preserve the state of these switches, even while their columns (temporarily) don't exist?

Thanks for any advice you all can offer!
