Lemur

Post by gthree »

Is anyone using this app in HW? It's extremely powerful, but uses a Daemon for midi connection, which the HW General/midi inputs does not recognize. Any suggestions?

Hi

Really need a bit more info?? What is 'HW'?? Hardware? An app? - iOS, Mac, PC?
For PC's you may need to use a separate MIDI app as a go-between, MidiYoke or LoopMidi etc, check PC setup info . . .

Cheers

Thanks MM,
My first post on this forum and I blow it.

I'm using a program called Hauptwerks (HW). It's a virtual pipe organ program, heavy midi, and I'd like to use Lemur to control it. I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.8 and Hauptwerks doesn't recognize the Lemur daemon. Even though the daemon offers Network 1 as an option (which I have setup for my iPad), even Midi Monitor doesn't recognize it. Midi Monitor recognizes the daemon, but Hauptwerks doesn't. I'm wondering why the daemon offers Network Midi as a connection but doesn't recognize it when I activate it. Does this make sense?

Any suggestions?

Hi
I think you need to re-read the setup info . . .
No need for Network MIDI - Daemon handles this for you . . .

Lemur output 0 -> Daemon Input 0 then select Damon Input 0 as MIDI-in in HauptWerks - should work . . .
To send stuff from HW to Lemur - Daemon Output 0 -> LemurIn 0 and select Daemon output 0 in HW

Will D/L a trial to see if HW is doing anything weird . . .

cheers

Hi MM,

I did what you said. The Daemon is working and Midi Monitor responds with each midi signal I send to the Mac.

HauptWerks, however, does not respond. When starting HauptWerks, one must go to General Setting/Midi Ports... and the program will show a list of all ports available. Then you select which ports you want active. Network ports will show up on this list, but not the Lemur Daemon ports.

Any help will be appreciated,

it appears that Hauptwerk hasn't yet 'registered' your Lemur daemon ports. I remember similar problems with ordinary MIDI controllers when I tried the Hauptwerk demo. There are more than one setting dialogs for MIDI, and it took my quite some time to get it right.

Hello MM, Macciza and phil999,

I finally got Lemur on iPad working with Hauptwerks. It took awhile, but the Hauptwerks forum put me on the right track. Mac OSX has a midi inter-wire app built into its Core Midi, called IAC. Works perfect. Now it's onward and upward. You have to set up two buses for the Lemur Daemon.

Two questions:

1. I would like to have a real time clock displayed on the iPad while I'm running Lemur. I just want to know what time it is.
I've read the docs and wound up very confused.

2. Is it possible to display the current iPad battery percentage left?

I'm no math expert, so some steps to do this would be GREATLY appreciated.

As usual, I really thank you all for your input.

good to know that you found the solution.

In the User Guide page 143 are some examples to display time, but it looks like there is no command available for the iPad clock. For the battery, enter 'battery*100' into a Monitor's value field, '%' in the units field, and '0' into the precision field.

Hi

Glad you got it sorted - was going to suggest IAC busses as a possible avenue . .

Re: the other points, follow Phil's suggestion on time and he's right no direct iPad clock access, yet . . .

Cheers

Phil999,

Thanks for the battery info. Works perfect.

MM,

Will be looking for a current time clock when you have it ready.
