newbie modul8 template help!

so i have recently swapped to lemur and am slowly designing a template for my modul8 visual app
here is the simple starter layout so far

what i'd likt to happen is for the 8 color buttons at the bottom
to switch off as the next one is selected
could someone show me how?
i am sure it is very simple lolz

i understand that i can make a set of 8 switchs
but i cant seem name each switch or color each switch accordingly
