Mackie interface for Cubase (iPad)

Post by lassethomasson »

Here is my quick take on a Mackie interface for Cubase.
Done for my own studio needs so it's not complete, but most of the stuff is there.
And the layout is ok and optimized for the iPad.
Still a novice Lemur programmer so there is probably a few bugs and less optimal solutions in it, but I've used for a few nights in the studio and it works.

EDIT: Attachment removed. This can now be found in the user library

Thans a lot! Basically works like a charm with Cubase, just need to find out which functions are implemented in Cubase. Any information about the Mackie implementation in Cubase?
Cheers,

This is the documentation I used for the Cubase implemetation.

http://www.mackie.com/products/mcu/docu ... ontrol.pdf
Good for understanding how it works.
Selected Channel & Fader Set modes are in the template. Global mode is not.

This page, http://home.comcast.net/~robbowers11/MCMap.htm, with a Mackie midi map is usefull if you want to tweek it further.

This looks awesome.
Does your template update channel names?

Yes they are always visible just above the faders. It displays the Mackie LCD panel there.
And in channel mode (using pan, eq, sends and inserts) pararmeters and values (in real time) are shown.

The tricky thing (if you don't see them) is that the midiport sending from Cubase to the Lemur must transfer SYSEX messages, otherwise nothing is shown. This excludes some midi interfaces (for example Alesis ioDock) and some port emulators on PC/Windows if your on WiFi (MidiYoke works fine though).
If faders are moving on the Lemur when you move faders in Cubase but not channel info is showing then this is the case and you have to keep trying other options.

Hi,

Your template work really well thanks for it !

The bonus i'm working to implement is the xy pads who is in the "studio combo" native iPad template (last page), i wan't to put this page in place of the fader page you made for quick controls. If i change the messages sends from that it could be used by default for quick control.

But i can't find the native template and i'm not already much good for coding in lemur editor, so if you find the way it could be helpful !

Thanks for reading !

lassethomasson,

I have a question about programming the lemur perhaps you could help with. I think I have a basic flaw in understanding how it is done.

Is there some written documentation for all of cubase's midi numbers for programming? I know how to go to the devices panel and change all of the F1' F2 etc. buttons to produce a different result but what if I want make my own custom page of buttons that goes way beyond the 8 F type buttons? I know I can get double that number using the shift key but it's more my lack of understanding that is bugging me. Is there anything written that would tell me heat numbers go with which commands?

Thanks for any help

All the mackie assignments are listed in the OPs post.

If you want to set-up additional controls I would suggest creating a generic remote too. Basically just look at the key command options to figure out what can be mapped and where the command is located.

I'm hoping to finish my template this weekend, so I'll upload it with the cubase xml. http://tinyurl.com/7wo64kr

Also I thought Loopbe transferred Sysex, but the surfacelcd is not displaying the selected track names.

Lasse:
Thanks so much for this! I've already incorporated some of the Mackie Control stuff (mostly track names) into a Cubase "selected channel" template using a Mackie Control device AND a Generic Remote device. I've uploaded a screenshot and I''l upload a template when I'm done. I also designed a page to control RME "Totalmix". Lemur is FANTASTIC!

Firstly thanks to all the contributors, I was having a great deal of trouble with loop midi 1.0.1.7 and the track names field. I managed somehow to get it working once but a reboot put pay to that. Being on Win7 64bit this was my natural choice for loopback but I now I'm using good old midi yoke it’s not pretty but it works 100%. BTW I had to switch off the UAC temporally while I installed it.
Hope this helps someone, caused me some frustration at first. :)
