NEWBIE NEEDS HELP FOR A VERY SIMPLE PROJECT !

Post by ALB »

Hello Lemur community,

My name is Clément, i'm leading a french band called ALB, working on my stage setup for the next tour and i'm looking for someone that could help me for a very simple Lemur project…(i guess it is simple) I have no one around me that use Lemur and could help me so… hello internet !

I need to buit a lemur program to pilot a mono-synthesizer from outside the stage with my cellphone (iphone 6s), over midi-bluetooth. This part works fine, i've already tested with an arpeggio app. several meters from my keyboards, and without any computer.

BUT for the lemur part..
1: i really suck at programming (but quite good in midi though)
2: we have soooo much work programing the rest of the live setup that i don't have time to learn… :/ i'll be able to link the right midi Cc's in the lemur editor to the right fonctions and export, but not much more…

So here is the basic idea :

I think that I need 2 pages:
the first one with a big button to launch a 16 short notes arpeggio ( hidden somewhere, always the same notes, i don't need to see it and change them ! > E2-F#2-G2-B2-E3-F#3-G3-B3-E4-F#4-G4-B4-E5-F#5-G5-B5 so i don't need a complicated sequencer, just a list of these notes, with tempo mod, sent to the external synth)

and the other page with a spot/ 4 directions slider, with wich i can set the tempo of the arpeggio (from veeery slow to hyper fast ) with the upper direction, and sending Cc to the filter on the left-right directions. i also would like to pilot the delay speed and its feedback, maybe i'll need another slider for that, but the idea is to do the maximum of the tweaks with one finger (i need to enter the stage while tweaking my phone while walking… easier with one hand ! :) that's also why i'm not using an ipad )
if it's possible to use the gyro of the Iphone or the force touch, i'm interested too !

last, when i finaly enter the stage and start my first song with the MPC, i need the arpeggio to be stopped with a Cc coming from my MPC TO my iphone6 (so i guess the start/stop button on the first page just need to have its own Cc and that's it ! )

if someone has read everything and think that is an easy-newbie job, feel free to contact me !!

Ça va, Clément?

Most of what you're trying to do is pretty easy, even for a n00b. I haven't messed with the gyro before, but it's been on my radar for a while for my fork of Monemur. That's probably going to be the hardest part.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Btw, search the forum for accelerometer instead of gyro. Also, force touch to my knowledge isn't supported. I don't think new features have been added in several years and force touch is p new as far as smart phones go.

Please post what synth you want to control and if you have the CC information available, that would also be great.
If nothing else, people can create some examples of sliders sending CC information for you.

that would be awesome !

the hardest part for me is the "sequencer" (not really a sequencer... more a note list ? events ?)

E2-F#2-G2-B2-E3-F#3-G3-B3-E4-F#4-G4-B4-E5-F#5-G5-B5

Once i got this big START button (also responding to CC-whatever) on the first page to launch the 16 notes i need (and maybe just a gate slider next to it ?) the rest will be easier i think.

on the second page (the main one) i need two "spots" in two squares (two "x/y joystick" i mean, without any friction, or physics )

the first joystick will set the tempo of the sequence with up/down, (from 20 to 300... but i think i'll be able to change the values by myself in the editor once the hard work is done :) )
and will set the cutoff with left/right (don't know yet wich part of my setup will play this sound, but let's say CC74 !)

the second joystick will set the delay, feedback with up/down and the time with left/right (i'll set the values too, it will be in the same synth )

everything needs to be sent to channel 16, BUT the sequencer is also supposed to trig the big led screen behind us, that simply needs to receive the midi notes to trig the lights. so if the sequencer could send the notes to channel 15 too... that would be perfect

and that's it !
in my dreams there would be also the accelerometer associated to a special fonction in the led screen, but let's see that in a second time !
cheers

again -- what synthesizer are you trying to control?

Also, what tempo for the sequence? Do you want to set the tempo or is it fixed?

the synthetizer doesn't matter from the moment ! i can either be the moog, the Kronos, the nord wave... (my live tools) so the cc will change, i know, i'm not that noob :)
the midi-bluetooth is routed via midi-thru box in-out > MPC1000 > "whatever synth-depends-of-the-canal-and-theCC" so i will chose the right midi canal/cc for the dedicated synth

as mentionned before, the tempo should be set - from 20 to 300 bpm for example - with one of the two joysticks (with up/down)
