Kitara Midi Guitar like Interface for Lemur

I am convinced that using the pads object and laying them out in the order of a guitar neck would be very useful.
I am new to all this so I cannot imagine the coding necessary to implement the required octave change slider or buttons.
I have tried to deconstruct modules but if they are a Piano or other type of controller then they use the 16 rows and 16 columns so the midi notes end up chromatic.
Does this make sense? I could use help in figuring this thing out.

I am not trying to strum and sound like a guitar. I am trying to develop a composing tool that allows me to trigger Softsynths in my familiar instruments layout.
