Android and ad hoc networks with windows laptop

A new user...

Currently have the android version of Lemur. Works fine over the wireless router based network. But can't get it to connect directly to a windows laptop in an ad hoc network. The configuration on the Windows laptop seems fine (since it connects with a Windows desktop OK).

So googled this and found that Android apparently doesn't support ad hoc networks.

So are there workarounds to this?
