Hi Guys
Have only kinda followed this thread as I dont use Cubase or PC but have been working on AlphaTrack and TranzPort emulations . see Alphatrack thread
Have got the Tranzport timecode stuff running fairly reasonably but need to do some more optimising of the whole thing really . .
Getting values of controls from applications to show the same in Lemur can be difficult - they can vary massively from app to app for one thing.
For instance there is no set point for 'unity' on faders across apps so iff you line in up in Cubase it could be different in Cubendo, or Live or Logic etc
For matching up parameters just for one app can also be complex - they could be simple linear or logarithmic scalings, or more complex functions
If you are pretty good at maths it is probably a bit easier to work out, but it is also possible that a table-based approach has been used that maths won't solve.
Ie 0-127 could be used in a log function to show frees or it may just look up values that have no maths involved.
For Faders - One way is just to place text markers by hand to show the important approximate positions as Phil said
If using numerical monitors try to get the top end as accurate as possible and ignore the lower end inaccuracies
Hope that helps
MM

Oh no! I Only run Windows when I really really have to. I'm a Mac man
I have no intent that my layout should be able to support several different applications. Really only Nuendo.
I think I understand the difficulties using midi to get proper data in return from the daw.
I'll try to get most of my template done today, as I'm home sick with a very sore throat. After all the basics are working I ll try to see what kind of data I can get using some other protocol. And then retread the alpha track thread to see how to extrapolate the data I want to show up in text elements in lemur.
This is going to be harder that I thought it would be.

Re: Scripting newbie
another idea that came to my mind tonight while mixing a song: there is a good controller app called V-Control. I had to solo several tracks and un-solo them, again and again, and there's a button that lights up if a channel is solo, and you tap it to un-solo all tracks. I haven't used this feature much, tonight it was really speeding things up for me.
V-Control uses the Mackie HUI protocol which is built-in in Nuendo I guess. Another nice (and unique) feature is that you can display plugin windows on the iPad and control them directly. I often have one iPad for Lemur and one for V-Control.

I have the v-control app as well.
Its nice, just a bit to generic for my workflow.
