I have automap with my notation keyboard slmk ii. Which is handy as it picks up non controllable midi parameters obviously as the developer has chosen automation instead.
I also have touchosc.
Where will I benefit using lemur? Primarily I'm more into vst control than mixers and sequencers.
I really love using lofs from bidule to manipulate midi ccs. It appears lemur can do similar ?
Does lemur pick up automation as per automap?
More than a midi controller?
Re: More than a midi controller?
Speaking from a completely personal point of view, Lemur is indeed wayyy more than just a midi controller mainly because of two features: physics and scripting. Both of these features are able to create interactive and self modulating elements not possible with other controllers. For an example of such a way of using Lemur I recommend Antonio Blanca's templates - most of them can turn an otherwise dull or predictable vst instrument - effect to a self modulated - randomizing - generative beast.
Granted though, it takes more work and studying to get your templates up to that point of functionality anda fiarly good knowledge of maths, and coding!

Thanks for the reply.
Thing is I'm not prepared to pay the money if I feel it's out of my depth.
Maths? Check. Coding? Nope. I'm not one for templates, but if theres any vids check them out, there's always something I don't like about someone else's design.
Bidule is fairly simple to create what are essentially unlimited modulation devices for a vsti. Couple of right clicks voila.
AM and FM synthesis on your favourite vstis. However, I'm really getting into the touch screen thing. It's makes the iPad an instrument IMO.
On a level of one to ten how easy/difficult is creating what I've described above?

Re: More than a midi controller?
Well truth is I cant really rate the difficulty as i ve seen many times beginners of lemur struggling with what i consider to be fairly easy. Something that is not apparent though, is that you can chek yourself the depth of the app by downloading the editor - either for Mac or Windows - whichever your system is. Then read the manual and try to design something simple in the editor, and see for yourself if you can grasp the basics of coding in lemur or if you consider it to be out of your league.
Re: More than a midi controller?
Well if touchosc is anything to go by I have that nailed but I'm thinking...hmmmm why set up up all the tedious remote stuff for my favourite vstis when I can set them up in lemur and have the physics thing.
This is the decision I am pondering.
Where is the app editor btw?

Re: More than a midi controller?
If your familiar with touchosc then you will already have half the battle done as the lemur functions on similar concepts. The editor is the same concept as the touchosc desktop designer tool that will allow you to construct templates that will work in the lemur it can be downloaded free and can give you a solid ideal on the capabilities of the lemur and its objects, scripting and physics capacity. Obviously you won't be able to send it to your iOS device without purchasing the app from iTunes but you can begain your research to help you understand the project and its concepts. I will tell you that the lemur is a beast and there are a few individuals hear like Antonio and softcore and Wul that create some very professional templates that they graciously share with the community. Plus there is also major premium content for free such as livecontrol2 and the Mu available too. Plus this is a strong community and the masters do try and help out in these forums if ya need some help. You can download the editor and documents from the liine support pages
