Hi,
Ive noticed several scenarios (on windows), where the Lemur Ipad app just minimizes to the background. This seems to be because it loses connection. Any templates that are being used at the time need to be resent over to the lemur.
The scenarios I have seen are when midi data is being sent, and also loading templates over a TCP connection. This happens to both Mu and Livecontrol.
Is there anything being done to fix the Ipad app from this problem? It seems to be an inherent problem with the Ipad TCP communication on windows.
Cheers
App resets connection
Re: App resets connection
Hey xmonsta,
same here - also Win7 32 bit.
I stopped it by reworking my Midiconnection...
following the setup guide of Livecontrol2.0 http://liine.net/assets/files/lemur/LC2 ... OSXWIN.pdf
you open in Abletons Midi preferences:
"track" on input
"sync" on output
"remote"... stay off (!)
On my setup without Livecontrol I have "remote" activated for in and out
(mirrored to the Miditarget0 settings on Lemur e.g. Ableton: loopmidi1 in, loopmidi2 out ; Lemur Miditarget0: from loopmidi2,to loopmidi in1)
this way I got bidirectional Midicontrol for CC data
However...running Livecontrol and open "remote" in/out in Ableton for Miditarget0 seems to be a bad idea.
I experience strange behavior. Containing those autoshutdown from Lemur and loss of connection....
I think the problem is based on a feedback loop. Livecontrol seems to send some Mididata continously...not sure...
So check if your "remotes" are off on Midiports for Livecontrol.
after doing so, I have a stable system here
Well....
with remotes off for standard Lemur Miditarget 0... this means all custom interfaces you add to Livecontrol should send on another Miditarget.
I changed my synth modules to send on target1 and opend parallel loopmidi 3 and 4 for these. This time with remote. and it works like charm.
Hope that helps.(?)
btw: which midiports you are using?
I used maple midi port 1-4 http://www.maplemidi.com/Maple_driver.html during the last years parallel on iPad and Jazzmutant Lemur without any trouble,
but that does not work with livecontrol => I got feedback on Lemur but can not enter values (?), tz,.... mididrivers on Win are really divas
honestly, they are! each one is different....some allow to be opend in several applications at same time, others not. some mute themself when experience a feedback loop (maple midi) others tend to crash. ugh, in that point I wish I were on Mac.... but only in that point
g*mat

Re: App resets connection
Hi Mat,
Thanks for the info. From testing it seems there is definitely a problem with general TCP connection on windows. This does happen with Midi, but also happens when sending templates to the lemur over TCP. The midi seems fixable from your suggestions. However, Im really stuck on the template upload. Wish Liine would provide some information about why the app closes the connection :/
Cheers
