mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized [v2]
mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized [v2]
It is with GREAT honor that Im ready to present you my most ambitious project to date - ambitious not so much so because of scripting involved but in terms of the final software-Lemur result and the integration provided.
This control surface combines the power provided by the latest update of SonicCharge Microtonic (μTonic, mTonic 3.1) which included CC feedback with the Lemur scripting for functions, which although exist in the plug in, are not midi mappable - accesible.
VERSION 2 Changes:
- Loading animation added – when mTonicLemurized is opened, version number and credits are displayed
for a few seconds
-“Randomizer exclude” feature added
- Ability to include pattern in “cut”, “copy”, “paste” and “exchange” edits of drum patch operations
-“Internal Pattern Preset Bank” added
-“Fine Adjustment Mode” added
- Sequencer “Running Light” added
- Acknowledgements section and more images added in the user guide
- Minor aesthetic fixes (brightness of some labels, coloring, etc)
Features:
- instant mapping configuration for all hosts. The native midi mapping system of the plug in is used with a provided MIDI config preset. Bi-directional communication supported,
- Drum patch operations: Init, Randomize (2 algorithms), Transpose, Cut, COpy, Pate, Exchange Drum patches.
- Pattern operations (on a per channel basis):
Clear, Randomize, Alter, Shift left-right, Reverse and Invert drum pattern. Probability sliders adjust the probability of triggers, accents and fills. Alter amount slider adjusts the amount of difference between a source pattern and the resulting one.
-Cut, Copy, Paste, Exchange drum pattern
- Pattern selectors for patterns "a" to "l"
- “Select Options” toolbar with ability to set desired velocity when drum channels are triggered by
selection, ability to momentarily mute an unmuted drum channel when selecting it
-“Quick Pattern Operations”: the labels “trig”, “acc” and “fill” perform quickly deletion of triggers, all accents on – all accents off and all fills off
- Options for:
Knob Behavior Mode (linear, polar)
Show/Hide AB output selector - compatible with both dll versions of the plug in
Show hide Mute Buttons
Text labels opacity
Tilt-To-Morph feature
SPECIAL edition for compatibility with Ableton Live - bypasses inherent problems of midi messages being filtered out on certain circumstances with Ableton Live
Whats in the download zip folder:
Target0, target1, Target2 ready to load templates - typical and AbletonLive compatible templates, classic and pixel skin templates.
User guide in .pdf with detailed instructions on how to set up and operate. Technical details for the ambitious too and some design choices explained.

Re: mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized
For Christ's sake, something always messes up my initial upload.....Apparently parent(Miditarget) DOES NOT work for MIDI IN execution scripts.
Affects templates for target1 and target2 of my initial upload - the feedback for Oscillator type and Filter type is not working - I updated with fixed versions....
Sorry for that - thank God I thought of actually testing the various target configurations.

Wow, this looks awesome, I´ll have to check it out now, but this is exciting Softcore, great work!!!!
This is like a dream come true, honestly..., I´ll let you know how it goes...I gotta have to check now... and it´s late damn....
Re: mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized
Definately true!WARNING to mTonic users: HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, proceed with caution!
This is such a beautiful and useful template Softcore and it does turn mTonic in an even more great tool for making music now.
All the additional, implented features in your template, which are a bit hidden in mTonic itself, are great, especially the random and transpose functions.
Some minor "problems", or bugs I ecountered so far are:
- Pattern selection a-l does not light up in the lemurized template according to mtonic.
- Pattern copy and paste only copies and pastes the active patch, not the whole pattern.
- I´d love to have the "select, but not trigger" option back for the patches as you had in your "old" template, maybe I didn´t see it, if it´s there..., or space is tooo small, so not such a big deal if so
- And more a request kind of thing, but probably a general "problem", or missing feature of mTonic itself is to be able to exclude parameters from randomizing
as I do not want all to be randomized (like volume, pan, eq, etc.).
Damn, now it would be so amazing to have visual feedback of the sequencer running, maybe Magnus Lidström of uTonic would be able to make this possible as I suppose it is a software only problem
, not sure though if this would work with midi perfectly...I dream...
Thank you so much for sharing this Softcore, makes me a happy man!!!

Re: mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized
Im glad to hear (read) you are enjoying it. Truth is, I think very highly of it myself too.
As for your observations, they make perfect sense, but except the pattern buttons lighting up and the exclusion of randomising parameters, all the rest cannot be done with the way midi is implemented in mTonic. Read in my user guide the "technical details - limitations" section for more detailed info. You will see that all of your observations have already occured to me too
I can surely make the selected pattern light up though and ad more options for the randomizing - note taken for future update!

Re: mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized
P.S. By the way, a method to select but NOT trigger a channel IS a deal breaker indeed - although now that the native midi mapping of mTonic is used, is not possible (as opposed to my older template).... I even tried with velocity settings to see if that would select a drum channel without triggering it audibly at least, but that didnt work either.

Re: mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized
Awesome work!!! Very impressive layout and through documentation.
REALLY REALLY appreciate you sharing this one.
I'm just getting into it and I'm excited. Microtonic has always been one of my favorite beat making software.
Thanks!!!!!

Re: mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized [v1.2]
VERSION 1.2 uploaded in user library
Changes:
- “Select Options” toolbar added, ability to set desired velocity when drum channels are triggered by
selection, ability to momentarily mute an unmuted drum channel when selecting it, so that it is not audibly
triggered when being selected.
- “Auto Hide Select Options” added in Settings page
-“Quick Pattern Operations” added: the labels “trig”, “acc” and “fill” are now essentially buttons to
perform quickly deletion of triggers, all accents on – all accents off and all fills off
- Pattern selector buttons now light up to display the currently selected pattern
- a “thinning” mechanism for the output of “Tilt-to-morph” feature prevents unnecessary midi data being
sent to the host application when no tilting is occurring.
- enabling the “Tilt-to-Morph” feature now automatically sets the initial “Zero Position”.
- Corrected the knobs in “Velocity Sensitivity” section which were falsely presented as bipolar knobs (like
pan) in classic skin
-Knobs in pixel skins are now brighter making their background (off range) more distinguishable
-a small line indicates the 0dB setting of master level fader
Bug Fixes:
- The “oscillator mix”, “eq frequency”, and the “attack-release” envelopes of both the “oscillator” and the
“noise generator” were falsely being randomized with “range” even when the “free randomizer algorithm”
was selected.
-the “master level” label was not becoming visible when touching the “master level” fader when “text
Labels Opacity” was set to low values.
Detailed info about the added features and their usability - purpose can be found in the UserGuide - which was also updated!

Thank you Softcore for a great update!
This is an amazing template!!

Re: mTonic (μTonic, Microtonic) Lemurized [v1.2]
next major update will possibly feature the extra randomization options you suggested. For the time being, you can prevent a parameter from being randomized, by simply touching it when you hit the "rand" button.
