Bidirectional Midi BUG

Post by dchild »

I've spent the last week trying to achieve midi feedback from ableton to two ipads running different lemur templates.

I've got to a point where i'm sure theres a bug because i've exhausted all possibilities. Here's whats happing.

When i connect the first ipad through the lemur app it works fine (Bi-directional control works also)
When i connect the second ipad this works also with bi-directional control, but the first ipad's feedback stops working.

Checklist:

Both lemur projects are set to different targets.
both templates are running on different midi channels
Both ipads are running on different virtual input / outputs.

Here are my settings:

ipad 3 = Object Target 0 = Midi channel 2 = Virtual port IAC 2

ipad 1 = Object Target 1 = Midi channel 1 = Virtual port IAC 1

Please tell me i'm doing something wrong...

I feel there's a real lack of importation regarding this topic in the user manual.

lol

Can you describe how the midi targets are set in both your Lemurs in the set up page? Both ins and outs?
Can you describe how Daemon (or other virtual midi ports) are set in Ableton Live preferences? Both ins and outs?

Ok first of all, according to your screen captures above, your working targets are 0 and 2, not 0 and 1.

Secondly, Im not sure if the same port should be used as both the in and out....for example, perhaps you need to set 4 IAC ports and then use 1 and 2 for target 0 and 3 and 4 for target 1. Respectively, you should take care to route these ports correctly as ins and outs in the Ableton midi preferences.
