hey,
I have recently purchased Lemur for my brand new ipad, 64gb (4th gen) and for the life of me, I can not get this to connect to my laptop. It's an HP running vista. I have followed the video that Liine has provided, several times, and its not connecting. My ipad sees the adhoc network and when I try to connect, my laptop sees the connection as it switches its status to "identifying" but there is no "airport" symbol on my ipad. The laptop just keeps trying to find the connection. I have installed the daemon and anything else that is required.
What is it that i'm missing? Do I have to have my laptop hardwired to my internet? Does my ipad need to be plugged in to the laptop? ATM, I feel like i'm out $50 I'm excited to get this up and running in my rig. I would hate to give it a bad review. And, I'm not happy with the support for this company. There is only this forum for troubleshooting? no FAQ's? anywho, any help here would be greatly appreciated
Thank you kindly,
SOUL
New install, Setup issues. PLS Help!
Re: New install, Setup issues. PLS Help!
Running Win 7 on an HP laptop here so dont worry you 'll get it connected.
The secret is you need to set the ad hoc network with static IPs.
Sorry for the possible not literal definitions but I dont have an English OS so I will be guessing the English equivalents so......
On the Windows side of things:
go to "change network adapter settings" -> right click on your ad hoc netowrk -> properties -> select "Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/Ipv4) -> properties button lights up, click on it -> do NOT change the default settings to static ip because then you wont be able to connect to the internet ->click on "alternative settings" -> click on "user parameter settings"
here type the following:
IP adress: 192.168.10.1
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
leave the rest blank -> click ok
You are done on Windows side....
Go to iPad -> Settings -> Wi-fi -> select your ad hoc network, click on the blue arrow icon -> select IP static
IP address: 192.168.10.2
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Welcome to the wonderful world of Lemur!

After you complete the steps, patiently wait for about 1 minute and you will see that your laptop goes from "identifying" to a steady "no internet connection" symbol. From that moment on, Lemur is connected to your laptop and you should also see the "airport" symbol light up on the iPad.
