Install MU template

Post by Gab23 »

Hello, could somebody help me to install MU template please?
How do i have to add it on my Ipad?
I copied the MU folder in cycling 74 folder but i don't see MU in Ableton's browser.
I have Ableton Live 9, Max for live 6.1, MU 1.2, Lemur Editor, Ipad 4 midi connected with camera connection cable.
Will MU 1.2 work with ableton 9?

Thank you

Hi
Have you gone through the Mu setup instructions?
The Mu device loads the Lemur project or you can transfer it via the Lemur Editor.
When you went through the setup, did you put the Mu device into Live?
Have you got your OSC Targets setup? Mu does not need/use a MIDI connection.
Have you checked out the other threads about Mu/Live9 setup? And swapped your Mu.path.maxpat?

Yes Mu now works with Live 9 after the minor edit mentioned above . . .

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Yes, i have been through the Mu setup instructions.
When i put the MU.amxd into Live it tells me "sending template failed, is lemur editor running?". I reload but i does the same. Lemur editor is running and ipad connected in Lemur editor. The OSC targets are setup on the Lemur with the same host and port than i can see in Lemur editor 192.168.1.12 and 8000. I think MU path is ok in max for live, i've selected the entire MU's folder in Max for live/options/files preferences.
i think that the OSC targets are the problem. what address do i have to write here?

Do i need a wifi adhock connection for the osc or is it right with the camera connection kit?

thank you

Problem solved (for me): I restarted everything, but instead of opening Lemur Editor, I left that closed. Suddenly I'm back in business. :P

I am having this exact problem, although I did have Lemur/MU/Live 9 Suite working a couple of weeks ago. My workflow is:

Start Lemur on the iPad (iPad 3 32GB WiFi+LTE, LTE disabled).
Verify that Lemur is connected in the Lemur Daemon.
Open the Lemur Editor, verify 'iPad' is selected in the device drop down, click on the 'Connect' (arrow) button.
Open Live 9 Studio.
Drag the Mu.amxd file from the Applications->Max 6.1->Cycling '74->MU 1.2 folder onto the Master track in Live 9 Studio.

At this point, I'm getting no Mu template/interface on the iPad or in the Lemur Editor and the Mu device in Live 9 eventually returns the red text "Sending Template Failed. Is Lemur Editor running?" message on the right side of the device.

The DAW host is a late-2011 MBP, 16GB of RAM, i7, OSX 10.8.3. Lemur Daemon is 4.0.1. Lemur Editor is 4.0.1. Lemur app on iPad is 4.0 per the About line.

EDIT: I thought I should add that if I drag and drop controls in the Lemur Editor, they immediately show up on the iPad in the Lemur app. It seems to me like there is a breakdown somewhere between Live 9 and Lemur Editor. I have no idea how to try and troubleshoot that though.

i tried everything it still does not work: "sending template failed, is lemur editor running?". but it's not running.
and i think osc target is ok now, the host is "mycomputer's name.local" and port:8000

One of the things I did do was validate that the IP address for OSC 0 Host: (in the iPad app) was set to the actual IP address for my MBP (my LAN is all DHCP-based with the exception of my private cloud/NAS device and the Minecraft server I set up for my sons). I may or may not remember to validate that IP address setting every time, though, so I might set up my router to assign a static IP for both the iPad and the MBP. Hrmm...

EDIT: I just re-tested it. Same steps as above, but I now have the M4L Mu device as part of my default template/set in Live 9. As soon as Live 9 finishes starting up, the Mu device scans, sets the IP in the display box and a second or two later the Mu template is showing in the Lemur app on the iPad.
