Is it possible to change the interface via a script?

I know i have read somoething about this somewhere but the search function is not a friend of mine. "interface" is a too common word for the forum search to work- btw "search" is acctepted :?:

Anyways, i want to change the interface by the press of a button. Is that at all possible?
