Hey all,
Ok I've scoured the net for most of the weekend and read through the forums here quite a bit but can't find a solution. I think I'm missing something, I'm experienced with DAW / VST but this is entirely new to me. Eveyrthing I've owned through the years has been USB MIDI, outside of that I'm a total MIDI / Lemur noob.
I'm running WIN 7 64. iPad Mini to iRig MIDI , MIDI out to TC Electronic Konnekt 24D which is my interface. MIDI out from Konnekt to MIDI in on iRig. Wired Connection only. Testing in Ableton Live, MIDI signals from Lemur app are picked up fine.
My problem is that I can't get MIDI remote / sync to send feedback to Lemur. If I move a knob on the app it controls a parameter in live, but adjust the parameter with the mouse and I can't get it to link back with Lemur. In global settings I don't even get the option for anything other than 'iPad Mini: Session 1 / iRig MIDI'.
I've tested it on my macbook (which I don't use for audio production) with wireless WIFI over Lemur Daemon and it works perfectly. All Daemon ports are available on wireless there.
I DL LoopBe1 but I'm not sure what to do with it. Nothing shows up on Lemur Daemon. The only info I can find about LD is regarding wireless. Am I correct to assume that these connections can only be made with wireless? Can I get this working over USB? Should I just save myself the time and stress and take my production PC onto my home network?
Ugh, sorry this is a long read. Thought I may as well give as much info as possible. I'm stuck, I'm going to leave it for the moment because I have to work on some tracks. Any help would be greatly appreciated though.Just wanted to run it past people who may know more than me before I go out and buy a wireless adapter for my production PC.
Noob question. Midi remote / sync over wired iRig connection
Re: Noob question. Midi remote / sync over wired iRig connec
Can you post a screenshot of your MIDI / Remote settings in Live?
Re: Noob question. Midi remote / sync over wired iRig connec
Sure thing, will grab one now. Actually just posted one but I realised I'd messed with them trying anything lol.

Ok take 2, thanks

I think you have LoopBE set up wrong - doesn't seem to be a port configured for output (the ports aren't full-duplex [bi-directional]).
But anyway - I think this:
http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html
. . . is a better virtual MIDI port app, and IIRC, the one used in the tutorials on how to set Lemur up. Maybe not, can't remember lol - but IME it's the better utility. Grab that and set it up as per the instructions then report back?
[edit]
You don't need virtual / loopback ports for this anyway . . . or the Daemon.
You have the Lemur coming in on a wire, so "TC Near" is where Lemur is inputting / receiving from?

Awesome, thanks I'll give that a go.I haven't actually got any of the virtual midi stuff setup properly, that's where I started getting really confused. I'm not even sure what I'm looking for but I grabbed that anyway.Joe Soap wrote:I think you have LoopBE set up wrong - doesn't seem to be a port configured for output (the ports aren't full-duplex [bi-directional]).

Yeah that's what I thought. Yeah it's going through iRig I/O into TC I/O.

Strangest thing I noticed is if I run Ableton or FL Studio with sync on the output Midi in light flashes on iRig. As soon as I plug it into iPad with or without Lemur running it completely stops doing that.
I'll give loop midi a go anyway, thanks for that.
Maybe if I can't get it working by the end of the week I'll just go wireless, it's only being used in the studio at home anyway.
Edit: Actually got a midi out signal registering properly with iRig through loopMIDI! Not quite there but that's an improvement.
Re: Noob question. Midi remote / sync over wired iRig connec
You don't need loopMIDI in the equation at all.
Lemur > iRig > TC > Ableton Live (MIDI IN == ON)
Ableton Live (MIDI OUT == ON) > TC > iRig > Lemur
And that's all she wrote. No Sync.no Remote.
^ Try that.
As an (actual hardware) MIDI n00b - you do have the MIDI OUTs connected to the MIDI INs and vice versa, yes?
Lemur > iRig > TC > Ableton Live (MIDI IN == ON)
Ableton Live (MIDI OUT == ON) > TC > iRig > Lemur

Re: Noob question. Midi remote / sync over wired iRig connec
Ah you're right actually. I removed the midi loop ports and it did exactly the same.
Double checked, all hardware is right.
Well I feel really stupid now. As you can probably tell I'd just been putting a mish mash of things like LoopBe etc on to try and get it working and I'd gone and messed up the actual MIDI I/O on the lemur app in the project I was using. ARGH. All working now btu stil feeling like a dumb ass haha. Thanks for your time and patience. Really appreciate you helping me out.

No worries.
Maybe edit the thread title, adding [Solved] so others can find the info more readily? Cheers.
