Hi Macciza - I've asked before and I'm asking again.

Where do I locate these crashlogs so I can send them in to Support please?

TIA.

Excellent, thanks! :) I'll email ya further on this, rather than hijack another thread. :P

But but . . .

While I've got your ear - suggestion for ya. Stickied thread - FAQ? Some questions pop up all the time, it'd be handy to have a repository of pre-built answers to point folk at.

Doesn't absolutely have to have the as-official-as-the-website stamp, you could keep it current / update it easily - and you could probably get volunteers* to formulate the odd section for you(r review). Just throwin' it out there.

* Not volunteering :D.

Hi everybody !
quite a long time without visiting the Liine Forum...
last time, i was sharing with a lot of people the loss of wifi connection problem.
coming back, I see the same problems that nobody can resolve...
And you can't, really
the fact is midi by wifi is NOT reliable.
I experienced a lot of wifi problems and i tried a lot :
first problems with TouchOsc, then i switsched to Midi Touch, same problems, then I switched to Lemur, same problems...
that is to say : it depends from the locations .
In my studio i can work by wifi without any problem, no loss of connection at all.
in other places, concert halls, schools (i do a lot of workshops for young people), a lot of problems.
So , after asking everywhere last year, everybody have the same problems with midi by wifi. And it is not a problem of ios, ipad version, app, i even tried an apple airport express (don't buy it, you have one already in your macbook and it works even better)...
So don't try to solve this problem , there's no solution , at all !
The only one and it's a pity , I do agree : go back to midi through cables , yes , good old midi cables ...
buy a midi interface for ipad : midi mobilizer II works very well. I bought 8 of them for my 8 ipads set up for workshops :
8 mobilizer II ---> 8/8 midi box ---> usb ---> macbookpro (Ableton Live).
In concert , i often use 2 ipads : one in wifi and the other one with a midi mobilizer II
I like to move on stage with the first one and I have a secure one on cables.
look at this video on my space :

and on this one : 10 children playing sounds on 6 ipads in concert (midi through cables) :

hi ! completely agree.
the problem is the wifi .
i jailbroke my ipad and bought the application mywi from cydia (for an usb tethering). didn't have the time to try the ipad lemur after that but it come and i will make a post on it...
i'm just really optimistic .

...like a charm.
i bought mywi 6.0 on the cydia market.now i can use the lemur on the ipad.
i created an usb tethering on the ipad . mywi let you create a static ip then i gave the one of my legacy lemur.
so so so great. lemur daemon connected immediately.

then i worked with my ipad one full day like i did when i was on wifi.
nothing to say more than ,that is the solution if you are bored of "little" disconnection, lag, etc etc.
1ms of latency (ping of the network)...and i feel it react like never before (on the ipad and on the original lemur)

problem solved.

oh!... for memory, i did it cause i use a lot of the osc. jailbreak made everything (both osc and midi) as fast as never.

interesting, thanks.

But I suppose you need the CCK, and cannot power the iPad at the same time?

nop, i need nothing more than original the usb cable....revolution.
i cannot power the ipad at the same time but i really don't mind. i work all the with day without problem. then for a stage ...it's really more than enough !

thanks again.

Good to know there is an alternative if WiFi does not work reliably in a live situation. At the moment WiFi functions fine everywhere I work, but you never know.

Edit: just as an example, I just connected an iPad to Logic, with the TouchOSC Logicpad template, with proper port settings on the computer and on the iPad. Nothing worked. No communication or connection at all, except the red 'incoming data' LED in TouchOSC when I moved a fader in Logic. Impossible if you were on a stage with a waiting audience. Five minutes later, everything worked, bi-directionally as usual. No changes in the settings or other activities, it just 'connected' after a while. Coming from the analog world, I find this unacceptable. I want to know if a connection is being made or not. Yes or no. If no, check the cable, fix it, and you'll have a connection. But with WiFi you have a 1/2 connection, or a 1/4 connection sometimes. It's neither a yes or no, it's something in-between. I hate that. :D

For every live performance, one has not only to do a sound check, one has (if WiFi is included) also to do a wireless check. So that everything will sound and work as expected when the show begins. I wouldn't make the effort for the latter if it wasn't so powerful and convenient when it finally connects and works.
