Hold the phone! I should have double checked that I had the latest versions installed on my Catalina system--turns out I only had 5.3.2. Neither the Editor nor the Daemon are working for me under MacOS Catalina 10.15.2 (late 2013 21.5 inch iMac). As the screenshot upthread indicates, they look like 64 bit apps, but viewing them in the Finder and trying to launch them yields this:
