Controlling iPad softsynth with another iPad

I'm looking for advice on how to use Lemur, running on one iPad, to control a CoreMIDI-capable softsynth running on a second iPad.
Has anyone done this? I've watched a YouTube vid where the SonicTouch hosts run the midi from an IO Dock into a Yamaha iMZ1 on the second pad, but I'm hoping for a solution that doesn't need more hardware. http://youtu.be/VtM_bHUmiNI
Can this be done with wireless, or through usb-midi between camera connection kits?
Any experience and advice is welcome, and thanks in advance.
