Lemur sending unwanted CC messages whenever I play/record

Case in point:
I open a soft synth, load a preset. As soon as I press "play" or "record" in my DAW, parameters on the synth will change. I'm not sure exactly which CC numbers, but I do know that a few of them are in the 70's (CC #71, #72, #79, etc.).
Weird and obviously very frustrating. Any idea what's going on?

What sort of CC mapping is set up? Any other controllers set up? What platform and software?
Yes technology can be frustrating but usually the 'weird' stuff is perfectly sensible when worked out . . .
