How is Velocity Fader Made?

Hi Guys
A newbie here.
I've seen many user designed keyboard for lemur. Most of them have a velocity fader.
I've been trying to understand how it is done. Any takers in helping me?
Are there any good site or books for programming or tutorials to learn lemur programming.

ps I've uploaded a file here consisting one key pad and a rotary knob which I intend to use as a velocity control of the key pad. How do I assign the rotary knob?
